Bavier Design specified Light Art for the Lobby at 555 Theodore Fremd Ave, Rye, NY because we needed a VERY large light to fill the tall glass atrium. We wanted to pick certain colors and textures and wanted the fixture to mimic flames. 3form LightArt designers were able to visit to site and help us with this custom design, resulting in a gorgeous fixture that looks a lot like hand blown glass.

Patriot Sprint Tour Prepares for Power Presence at Motorsports Expo 2011

Rich Vleck, ROCHESTER, NY (March 4, 2011)- Four of the brightest stars of the Patriot Sprint Tour have their potent rides cleaned up to a high shine and are ready to showcase their winged warriors at the Northeast Race Season's unofficial kickoff party.

Four Patriot Sprint Cars, which will be piloted in 2011 by Tim Kelly, Vern Wasson, Bob Reis and four-time champion Bryan Howland will be part of the Patriot Sprint Tour (PST) Booth at the Verizon Center of Progress Building at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, NY on Saturday March 12 and Sunday March 13. It will be the first time at this event under the adjusted series name.

The PST booth will be full of 2011 Schedules hot off the press for fans and teams to pick up and post wherever needed to stay in tune with all of the major dates of this upcoming season. In addition, race teams will have one last opportunity to complete their registration early and get free stuff, this time without even having to mail it in.

Videos of races of the past will be playing all weekend, all in front of four beautiful sprint cars that are sure to grab the eyes of the thousands in attendance. Here is some information on the pilots of the cars that will be in attendance.

Bryan Howland has perennially been atop the Patriot standings and his No. 51 Maxim has been a mainstay at the Motorsports Expo, always with a subtle but quality improvement to the primarily black and neon color scheme.

Bob Reis sports a similar paint scheme to Howland for his No. 4. The Elma, NY veteran driver is entering his second season behind the wheel of a winged sprint car and looks to run a host of PST events while still jumping behind the wheel of a supermodified and asphalt modified on occasion.

Vern Wasson's No. 5v will make its first appearance in Syracuse. Wasson finished sixth in the 2010 standings and looks to make a championship run this season with new Eagle Chassis in the arsenal and new crew chief Jeremy Bitner leading the team.

Speaking of championship contenders, Tim Kelly's No. 12 Avenger will also be included in the Patriot Booth for the first time. Kelly was the winner of the final full-point Patriot race in 2010 at Eriez and finished third in the standings. Along with car owner Eddie Vickio, the two-man team is focused on being the inaugural PST Champion.

Motorsports Expo 2011 will once again be a two-day extravaganza, with Saturday's marathon being held from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Sunday's showcase will be held from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. For more information on the event visit www.GaterNews.com.

Rich Vleck, ROCHESTER, NY (February 20, 2011)- Original Pizza Logs, the delectable finger food often served in a pack of four that has been a fan-favorite at area tracks for years has become the title sponsor of the Patriot Sprint Tour dashes, which also come in a four pack.

Finger Food Products, of Niagara Falls, NY, has signed on with the Patriot Sprint Tour (PST) to create the Original Pizza Logs Four Laps of Fame Dash Series. Not only will they help to fund the purse for each event, there is now additional money up for grabs in a season-long point fund.

"We are extremely pleased to add Finger Food Products to our family of marketing partners," declared PST President Mike Emhof. "The Original Pizza Logs brand is a staple in our racing community, most notably with support of our friends at the Original Pizza Logs 600 Sprint Tour."

Bob Cordova, who started Finger Food Products in 1986, has been a long-time supporter of racing in Upstate New York, and felt the timing was right to get more involved in sprint car racing.

"We are going into the second season of the Original Pizza Logs 600 Sprint Tour and some of the drivers are now moving into the sprint cars," said Cordova. "Charlie Donk is one of my drivers now in sprints and there are some others on the way."

In each PST-run event in 2011, the Original Pizza Logs Four Laps of Fame Dash will be held after the qualifying heats to scramble spots nine through 14 for the A-Main. This will be the fourth year that Patriot dashes are conducted under this format and have been a great success thus far.

"We have seen drivers acquire valuable knowledge with this additional track time, which has helped propel them to the front in the feature. Broderick leads entire ASCS Patriot Feature

HARTFORD,Ohio (September 5, 2010)

The rain delayed some race action Saturday night, but it didn't disappoint the fans who remained to see the American Sprint Car Series Patriot race.

After a rain delay that lasted more than an hour, the ASCS Patriot Sprints took the 3/8-mile dirt oval at Sharon Speedway. Dylan Swiernik gave up his pole position as engine trouble became eminent, giving the first-place starting position to Kyle Moffitt. However, the second place starter, 20-year-old Bubba Broderick, set sail and sent Moffitt to second while Jared Zimbardi ran third on a very fast track - Broderick was running a 14.175 lap and average speeds of 93 to 94 MPH. On a restart after a fifth-lap caution, Moffitt went to the outside trying to chase down Broderick. Zimbardi ran third with close company from Tim Kelly as Chris Shuttleworth was charging forward.

As the green flag stayed out, the story of the race quickly became lap traffic as the battle for fourth formed between Bryan Howland and Kelly. Zimbardi, who had been running third, slowed to a stop in turn four on the 15th lap, bringing out a caution. That moved Howland into third and Kelly into fourth. It also brought Shuttleworth into the top five.

Broderick continued to set the pace as Moffitt couldn't find a way to get to him and stayed in second as Howland started to gain on Moffitt. With three to go, another caution came out as Zimbardi left the track. Blake Breen jumped into fifth as Shuttleworth fell back. Broderick, from Connecticut, held on and stayed safe to record the win in ASCS Sprints.

ASCS heat winners were Zimbardi, Broderick and Shuttleworth.......

Bubba Broderick Racing Report - Edition 11- Battling Traffic

The final single-race weekend of the 2010 season for the ASCS Patriots was held this past Saturday at Stateline Speedway. Committed to the tour, that meant that the Broderick Racing Team would make the long trip from Connecticut to the Western Edge of New York. Thankfully for them, the weather was perfect.

It would be hard to believe that Bubba would miss a race at Stateline though, where he has arguably been the best driver at the quirky 1/3-mile there over the last two seasons.

"Every time we went to Stateline, we have been fast," noted Bubba. "Even the first time we went there we were good."

Bubba got a feel for the track on this cloudless day early in hot laps, as he would blast the cushion and put on a performance for the fans before things turned competitive.

"We had a different setup in Saturday that we had been using the last few weeks. The car worked everywhere in hot laps, even in the middle. I felt like we were the fastest car. The thing about Stateline though is that hot laps are not a very good indicator for what it will look like in the feature."

In his heat, the 20-year-old would start fourth and quickly move into third, which would assure him a spot in the redraw. For the balance of the event, Bubba picked up second place and pressured the leader, while testing out some new lines on the track, as well as being cautious."

"The car was comfortable to drive; I was having a lot of fun. The only thing that wasn't fun was the sun going down the backstretch. You literally couldn't see down the straightaway and the only thing I could do was turn as soon as I hit the shade.

"I didn't even try the high side and when I caught up to the leader, I was thinking about going by him but figured I didn't have to do that to make the redraw."

And then came the redraw, in which Bubba was the first to draw after gaining the most passing points. He pulled the No. 8 ball, the worst one in the bag.

"I hate going first on the redraw," he declared. "We've been having good redraws this year, so eventually our luck had to give up. It just stunk because we knew it was going to be tough to get by people in the feature." Broderick was fast in the feature, but it was tough sledding behind seven top cars. The cushion was not as supreme as it had been on prior visits, with the berm extremely high off turn four.

"Before our race, the track was getting slick but we could feel the moisture coming back in. It really forced us to change our setup. I figured I could just go right to the top, but the line didn't go as I had expected and we lost a few spots.

"The berm was really thick in turns three and four. You had to snap the car sideways to not get stuck on it and that was tough because there were some really good cars running on the bottom.

"Once I was by myself, I could run so much quicker, but having to deal with other guys slowed me up so much."

The No. 5 Eagle was up to third by the time the 25-lap feature was half-way complete, but he would have Jared Zimbardi to get by for third, and that wasn't easy either.

"He was in the exact line I needed to be in, but he was fast too. My only choice was to start diving to the bottom, but I didn't have enough to get by. I tried a few partial slide jobs to get him to get off the top; it worked and I was setting up a run on the top when the caution came out."

In the closing laps, Bubba found himself rim-riding again to try to get by not only Zimbardi, but Tim Kelly, as the trio battled for second. When the checkered flag flew, Broderick was fourth for his second-straight top-five finish.

"I got into Jared towards the end and that was my last-ditch effort to get those spots. I felt we were at least the second-quickest car on the night but there was a lot of traffic and really nowhere to go. I'm really happy, but then again it was really disappointing because I knew it was an event I could win."

Like last week, the team will make another long trip west, this time for two events at Sharon and Eriez. Bubba won at Eriez in May and finished third at Sharon last season, and is excited to return to these two very different tracks.

"My goal is now to finish third in points," noted Bubba, who trails Tim Kelly by 21 points. "Tim has been running really strong and I don't have time to screw up. We'd love to sweep the weekend and I'm that confident because I know we are really strong at both places. I'm going 110% this weekend."

...... The sprint group's June appearance ended with Bubba Broderick from Brookfield, Conn., in victory lane. Broderick took advantage of early leader Scott Bonnell's mechanical problems and then mastered lap traffic, winning his second ASCS feature of the season and the third of his career.

Broderick is fourth in the ASCS Patriot points. Bryan Howland of Auburn is the ASCS point leader followed by Salamanca's Tim Zimbardi and Tim Kelly from Rock Springs.......

Bubba Broderick Racing Report - Edition 10 - Ohsweken Accomplishment

In his first two seasons of sprint car competition, Bubba Broderick had always seemed to run well at some point in a night at Ohsweken, but never had the great finishes to show for it. With one final opportunity to gear up before this year's Canadian Sprint Car Nationals, he found his way to the front and stayed there despite bad luck trying to intervene.

With 38 cars in attendance for the second ASCS vs. Corr/Pak Challenge at Ohsweken, just making the show was a task. After drawing fourth for his heat race, Bubba had a quality starting spot in a show without passing points, but would have to take on a number of strong competitors.

"It was a different feeling without having passing points," noted Bubba. "I normally try to win every time but now I knew I had to be in the top three. We had a great hot lap session with a new setup and were anxious to get out there."

The Brookfield, CT driver would move into third early on and begin to challenge for the lead with Kyle Moffit and Dustin Daggett, each of whom had already won a race at Ohsweken earlier in the year. Only needing to finish in the top three to earn a redraw spot, Broderick focused on holding off Alain Bergeron to earn his chance at starting on the front row.

"The car was really stable in the heat. I ran the top most of the time and once Daggett peaked underneath me I had to pull a slide job to get in a redraw spot. After I settled into third, I saw the scoreboard and knew Bergeron was behind me so I focused on finishing third, which we did."

The 20-year-old would grab the outside pole for the feature and was ready to make the most of his opportunity. He and Travis Cunningham would battle hard for the lead on the opening lap, with Broderick settling in to second.

"Before the race, I figured the top was the place to be but the polesitter was really strong on the bottom. The car was good, but the bottom was better."

On the second lap, Dustin Daggett began to challenge the No. 5 Eagle, but Bubba held steady on the top for two laps, before finally heeding way to the No. 2M. Daggett would go on and pick up the win while Bubba did what he could to finish in the top five.

"Daggett pulled the same move he did in the heat race to get by me. It amazed me how I felt I ran a perfect corner and he still went by. He was definitely hooked up. It was his feature to win."

While battling for third midway through the race, the No. 5 hit a rut and suddenly the car suddenly began to act violently for Bubba.

"I thought the rear end was falling apart. I was going to pull off because it was vibrating so badly I couldn't even see. It was all a blur."

The only stoppage of the race came out on lap 19 for a flip. Under the red flag, a track crew member discovered that the right rear wheel had broken and had packed with mud. It seemed to dissipate on the restart, but it happened once again with five laps to go, making it a living hell to the finish.

"I was pleased with the fifth, but I know we had a chance to finish in the top-three without that issue. It was great to see the new setup work. We have a good book to work off of for the Canadian Nationals now."

The next night the team travelled over to Merrittville Speedway, where the night was cancelled after hot laps due to rain. It was a disappointment for the Broderick Racing Team, as another opportunity to feel out their new setup was squashed.

The Ohsweken showing was his first top-five finish since July 3 and sets him up perfectly for a chance to sweep the events at Stateline this Saturday.

"I don't like that track just because I won there, I like it because it is really racy. The bottom can be fast, but you can make the top line work as well. As long as the track has a top line, I think we will be good."

Broderick also has an opportunity to claim the Insinger Race Fuels King of the Southern Tier Series Crown. He will need some help for that to happen, but considering how strong he is at the 1/3-mile oval; it is not out of the realm of possibilities.

Bubba Broderick entered Friday Night's event at Black Rock Speedway knowing that even though he had never fared well results wise at the track, he had never got a crack to show his true potential. Just one good draw is what he wanted, and that is just what he got; but more disappointments would be ahead

The Broderick Racing team made the long trip to Dundee Friday for the $4,000-to-Win A-Verdi Championship. Bubba often found himself starting towards the back, but a great draw for his heat would land the No. 5 Eagle on the pole for heat race two.

"Finally we got a good draw there," declared Bubba. "It certainly wasn't me drawing. For the second straight week I used someone else. The unfortunate part was that Bryan Howland and Tony Stewart were in the race but then again it was a good chance to show off."

Coming to the green flag though, Broderick was deemed to have accelerated too early and was placed back a row for jumping the start. Bubba was understandably not happy, but was determined to rebound from it.

"I hated getting shuffled a row back but with Tony now in front of me, I knew I was in the quick line because he is really strong on starts."

Broderick fought hard on the bottom of the track with Bryan Howland for the runner-up spot, which was in effect going to be for a spot in the redraw. As the two were side-by-side coming to complete the second lap, they had to divert their course and avoid a major wreck.

Tony Stewart's No. 14 had collided with a damaged car in turn two and was barrel rolling in front of Bubba and Bryan. Howland, on the top, dove onto the pit lane, while Bubba was able to get the car slowed down to move by on the inside.

"I saw the car from the middle of the frontstretch, but I guess I never saw him turn right in front of Tony. I was right behind Bryan as we entered the corner and I had to drive through the low line for the first time on the night."

Broderick would complete the heat race solidly in second, which was good enough to make the redraw. Drawing a number four would give him that quality starting spot for the A-Main he had been looking for at BRS.

"The car wasn't great in the heat and we tried to tighten the car up for the feature and hoping that we landed on the perfect change. I liked starting on the top and felt that we could pull out a good top five finish."

Things were still not right with the Northeast Carpet/ Pink Monkey Water entry from the start as he was tight on entry and loose through the corner. To compound the problems, by the third lap a flat right rear tire materialized on the No. 5 for the third straight feature. Bubba wasn't sure if it was flat yet but after a lap 7 caution he was sure it was going soft and put the crew to work.

"I was so upset sitting in the work area. I just couldn't understand how this string of luck with flat tires has been. Bones (Crew Chief) asked me if the car was tight or loose and I wasn't even sure because the tire had been going down. We made a torsion bar adjustment right before the two minutes were up and that loosened the car up."

Broderick ran the final 18 laps battling with Tim Kelly, but would struggle off the corner and would fight his way back to a 12^th place finish, but again left the Finger Lakes venue wondering what could have been.

"Our team had a talk and just said that this luck has to turn around, it just has to. We never had a flat before last weekend in my career without contact with another car. If flat tires come in threes, hopefully our third win is around the corner."

The team will now take a week off before a weekend in Southern Ontario racing at Ohsweken and Merrittville Speedways. This will be a great way to gear up for the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals which is just over a month away.

"Ohsweken is a place we've never been great, but still one of my greatest accomplishments is backing the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals A-Main both times we've gone there. I want to really get a hold of the place so we can go after a top-10 in September."

Edition 8- Bad Luck at the Bull Rings

The Broderick Racing team entered this past weekend with high hopes that they might be able to capture their third win of the 2010 season. With three races at two tracks that suited Bubba Broderick's driving style, his chance at having things go right were good. In the end though, what could go wrong just about did.

Friday Night, the team travelled for the first time ever to Clinton County Raceway, located in the heart of Central Pennsylvania. The tight 1/3-mile suited Bubba's eye, but with 45 cars in the pits, things were competitive to say the least.

With a quality draw for the third heat race, the Brookfield, CT looked to get to work on a top spot for the feature. Challenging for second early in the event, the top wing on the No. 5 slid back when the wing slider broke and severely tightened his Eagle. Broderick was able to hang on to third, which was good enough to qualify for the feature, but had a mountain to climb in the A-Main.

"I was stuck on the bottom on the start after practicing on the top but I didn't lose a spot getting up there," noted Bubba. "I was setting up to pass the No. 11 when the caution came out. I slid the wing back a tighten up the car a touch but when I hit the backstretch on the restart the wing slid back on me and the car became way too tight. I didn't realize that was the problem until I got back to the pits. We might have had a chance at the redraw but that set us way back."

Despite starting near the back, the 20-year-old began to drive up through the pack, moving to ninth place by the third lap. Just after the restart though, Broderick's left front made contact with an implement tire lining to bottom of the track, which would break his front end and a few laps later would be sliding through the infield.

"The car was getting such a good run on other cars but they were side-by-side, so I saw an opening on the bottom on the fourth lap and just hit the tire. The official told me under a red flag that my front axle was bent but I figured it must be alright if I was passing cars. It was very tough to drive and with about 10 to go I broke the torsion arm off and I went for a wild ride. I was just glad it didn't hit anyone or anything."

While a number of bolt on parts would need to be replaced that night, the team knew they had two good chances to win at Woodhull on Saturday, one of Bubba's best tracks.

The first event of the night was the rain-delayed feature from May, in which Bubba started eighth. By lap five, Bubba had found himself in fourth and moving up fast when a car slowed in front of him on the top of turn four to bring out the caution. Bubba went to avoid the stopped car and spun around his No. 5. Broderick through up a cloud of dust as he stayed in the throttle and was able to drive away and thus was able to get his spot back.

"The set of corners earlier the car pushed and when I went into turns 3 and 4 it pushed when I slowed to avoid that car, and I figured that's all it was. I was so pumped to have the spot back and thought everything was alright. Up until that point the car was really fast."

Broderick appeared ready to rim ride farther forward on the restart, but evidently a right rear tire had been punctured just before the caution and was leaking air. He would limp around the track the next five laps awaiting another caution. When leader Chuck Hebing lapped Bubba, he took it to the infield and was done for the race.

"I should have recognized under the caution that the tire was flat and ducked into the pits too change it. Once I realized it under green I didn't want to draw a caution, but I guess that would have saved us."

In the regularly-scheduled show at Woodhull, Broderick drew the pole for his heat but would finish second behind 2009 race winner Bobby Breen. It would be just enough to keep Bubba out of the redraw and send him to the dash. In the dash, Bubba was solid again in second and would earn a 10^th place starting spot for the stacked A-Main.

"We got to try something different for the dash and it didn't work out well but it was something we realized was not the right setup. We knew we still had a good setup in our book for the feature."

As the field was getting set to come to green though, he developed a flat left rear tire and would have to head to the pits and vacate his starting spot. The crew would change the tire in under a minute and Bubba would drive from last towards into the top-10 by lap eight when the red flag came out. Broderick knew the spare tire had loosened up his car but continued to fight the rest of the way.

"I was so mad inside the car. I couldn't believe that I picked up a flat for the second time after no contact with anyone or anything. The rest of the way we were pretty good, but it wasn't the setup we preferred to have."

In the end, Bubba would cross in ninth, sandwiched between Bryan Howland and Jared Zimbardi with whom he engaged in a spirited battle during the final few circuits. It was once again not the finish he wanted, but he still did drive forward.

"It was a lost opportunity for us. It was the kind of night where you couldn't assign blame to anyone, it was just racing."

Broderick now realizes that his championship hopes are now slipping away and is focusing on winning more races, like the big show at Black Rock this Friday that pays $4,000-to-win.

"I've never had a chance to start up front there. I need a good draw for a change there because we have a lot of notes from there and the car has run well in the feature, but it is always fighting from the back. I want August to be different."

Edition 7- A Ray of Sunshine on a Rainy Weekend

What was supposed to be a challenging three-race weekend opportunity for the Broderick Racing Team to shine ended up being mostly cloudy, and rainy; but they ended on a positive note on the way home.

The No. 5 Team travelled up to Rolling Wheels Raceway on Friday, the site of Bubba's first sprint car race in 2007, but would have nothing to do on that night as action was washed out.

On Saturday, the weather cleared up for most of the day, but heavier storms moved in before the racing action could be completed. Bubba did get a brief stint on the track and would walk away anxious that they couldn't turn more laps with their Eagle Chassis.

The Fast Track Summer Shootout utilized a unique time trial format, running in groups in their first session on the track and helping that set the grids for hot laps. Bubba was near Patriot point leader Jared Zimbardi and the two fought for space in the three lap session.

"We definitely could have used a Friday Night session, because without having a separate hot lap session we did not come out of the box near where we needed to be," admitted Bubba. "Having the wicker bill was a big change from what we have been doing this year."

The 20-year-old would have to start at the back of heat race two and would fight from his 10^th place starting spot to seventh, but without the aid of passing points would have to run the B-Main to qualify for the 25-lap feature. Before that happened, though, Mother Nature, which intervened briefly after hot laps, would hit hard after the third heat race and settled in for the rest of the night. The remainder of the event was scrapped and the special challenge was cancelled.

"We were able to pass some cars in the heat and it was getting some better, but we were up against it all night if it didn't rain."

Before the team got back home to their Brookfield, CT base, they stopped off at the Lebanon Valley Speedway, the closest venue to home, for the annual stop by the World of Outlaws.

"There is no place I have more fun at than the Valley. It has a hometown crowd feel and the speeds are just incredible. It is like Daytona on dirt."

Going up against the top 410s in the country, along with a myriad others, Bubba showed his meddle, qualifying easily through the B-Main and moving forward in the feature.

"Normally that show doesn't even have a full field, but then 29 cars show up and it made us really be on our game. I wasn't great in time trials, and the heat was alright considering the guys in front of us, but in the B-Main the racing was great and I got to swap it was some 410 cars and get in the show."

Broderick was up to 17^th place from 23^rd 12 laps into the A-Main when a car spun around in front of the No. 5. Bubba attempted to avoid the car, but made slight contact which was just enough to knock him out of the event. Even so, his presence was felt by the large crowd.

"From the start, the race was like a dream. Going 4-wide with the Outlaws is what you grow up wanting to do. Once the race got going, we were hooked up and driving by 410s. Everyone seemed to be in a group and that seemed to slow them down, so I just kept driving around everyone."

"I barely made contact with the spinning car and I hated that it happened, because I know we had a few more spots to pick off before the race was over."

The team is now raring to go for a big two-night, three-race weekend coming up this Friday and Saturday. Friday will be the first trip for Bubba and the ASCS Patriot tour to Clinton County Speedway in Central PA. The Patriots will challenge the 410 Sprint Express, a new series that runs the track weekly. Bubba has already fared quite well against 410s this season and Clinton County is a track that should suit Bubba's style.

Saturday, Bubba will get two cracks at Woodhull Raceway, easily one of his favorite tracks. He has a CNYMS win there in 2006 and has always fared well there in a sprint. The first feature field is set, with Bubba starting in eighth, but he should still be a factor.

"Hopefully the outside groove is there on Saturday. I always enjoy going there and having a ton of a laps in one place on one night should allow time to dial the car and hopefully getting back to winning races."

The Broderick Racing Team came into this past weekend with high hopes for another win on what has already been an impressive 2010 season. When the dust settled Sunday Night, though, they could only take solace in making the best of bad breaks.

Saturday Night, the team visited the Brockville Ontario Speedway for the second time this season, a track where Bubba has never finished outside of the top-10. Another heat race start back in the pack did not phase the 20-year-old as he moved into a redraw spot and would pull the fourth starting spot for the A-Main.

"I was really exciting heading into the feature," reflected Bubba. "It was a great draw for me, because I was planning to run the top anyways and I just assumed Shawn Donath, who was starting in front of me, would make the outside the line to go."

When the race began, polesitter Shayne Ely jumped out in front, with Donath in second. Bubba was right behind them in third.

"Shayne definitely hit the setup, he was rolling the bottom and I tried it a few times and knew I had to be on the top. My car was not good on short runs and every time I would reel them in the caution would come out."

Broderick was riding midway though the event when he came up on a lapped car and had to move his line up to the extreme outside to pass him. As the leaders worked through turns three and four, the right rear on the No. 5 dipped over the banking and sent Bubba in a spin right towards the turn four wall. The Eagle Chassis would make hard contact with an implement tire, and tip over the car.

"If I could have run the bottom, I would have used it to get around him. The lapped car would push high, and then cut down low, and I figured he would do it again but he stayed on the top and I had to either go in his rear bumper or slam on the breaks, which spun me around into the wall."

Thankfully for Bubba, the damage was minimal and he would be able to finish the event, placing 13^th. It was not the result he was hoping for, but knew things could have been even worse.

"I'm amazed I didn't flip. I figured the rear end was going to be shot, but all it ended up being were a few small problems. The race car wasn't junked and I knew that the car was running solid before that one mistake."

The next day, the team traveled about an hour up the road to Cornwall Motor Speedway, where Bubba took his most spectacular flip in his sprint car career a year earlier.

Broderick drew another poor starting spot in his heat, this time in a qualifier filled with top competitors. The Brookfield, CT resident could not do much with his spot and would have to work from the back in the feature.

"That was probably the weakest the car has been this year. Bryan Howland and I shared a laugh after the race about how we were battling each other in the back. It was actually pretty embarrassing. We found a few things wrong with the setup of the car before the A-Main and figured we could improve and bounce back."

Bubba did not waste much time moving forward, driving from 17^th to ninth place in the first six laps. With plenty of racing left to be completed, it seemed as though nothing could stop him.

"The car was amazing, it was unbelievably fast. I told the guys in the pits before the race that my goal was to get in the top-10 and once I was there by lap five, I wasn't ready to slow down."

On a lap seven restart, though, his nose wing would fold up after contact with Shayne Ely and hinder the performance on the No. 5 and caused him to slide out of the top-10.

On lap 12, while sliding the top wing forward to aid the ill-handling machine, two cars came together battling for third place and would block the track entering turn one. Broderick did what he could to avoid contact, but that was nearly impossible.

"I was working on getting back by Jared Zimbardi, but his wing was blocking almost all of my vision, so when he slammed on the brakes I didn't have anywhere to escape. I knew I would hit Zimbardi, I just tried to make as minimal of contact as possible.

After changing a flat right rear tire in the work area, Broderick would return with a bent front axle, a bent radius rod and a bent Jacob's Ladder and finish in ninth. For a second straight night, it was not the finish that the team was looking for, but their perseverance was noteworthy.

"The crew worked really hard to get me back out there in under two minutes. It was a weekend that I can't be happy about, but I know we didn't lose as much ground as we could have."

The focus now shifts from a ¼-mile to the 5/8-mile Rolling Wheels Raceway, where Broderick will help represent the ASCS Patriots in the Fast Track Summer Shootout, which also features competitors from the United Racing Company and Empire Super Sprints.

"I love the track; it was the first one I ever ran back in 2007 when I was running one of Chuck Hebing's cars. It has been have a few years since anyone has run there and I have a feeling were going to do really well."

Sunday Night, Bubba will hit Lebanon Valley Speedway on the way to compete in the World of Outlaws event. Even though he will be giving up plenty of horsepower on the 410s, he still enjoys the element of speed the tight 5/8-mile presents.

"I really enjoy speed and no place gives you it like the Valley. It is only a hour and a half from my home, so why not stop there?"

For the third time this season, the Broderick Racing Team bounced back from a less than impressive first night of action to follow it up with a performance they could be proud of the following night.

The team made the long trip to Ohsweken Speedway for a Friday Night event, and were joined by 50 other teams. With just about half of the cars getting sent home, qualifying for the event was the primary task.

"This was a great way to measure ourselves," Bubba reflected. "I like having a little extra pressure to perform while not having it be a regular point race."

After another unlucky draw, Broderick put together a solid performance in his heat race, charging from ninth to fourth to put himself in great shape to qualify for the A-Main, but work was still to be done. Under the Northern Summer Nationals format, a second set of heats, known as qualifiers, was required to set the field.

The inversion put Broderick near the front of the pack and was solidly in the top-three, however, he would lose control on the slick track and spin out his No. 5. Broderick would charge back up to place eighth, which was still not enough to qualify directly to the A-Main.

"We just didn't have the car connected to the track," Bubba noted. "When Bobby Breen got by for the lead, I tried to go back after him but the space tightened up and when I lifted off the throttle and sent car around."

Bubba ran the B-Main, which has become a familiar sight for him in big event at Ohsweken, where he has won one in the last two Canadian Sprint Car Nationals. As soon as the race started though, it was clear that the No. 5 was not set up correctly for the slick track conditions.

"We were chasing the track all night and we tried some changes and knew right away that it didn't do much. I was leading, but I knew that I didn't have much of one because I could hear the guys right on me."

Broderick was trying to hang on when he spun around the car in turn one. Trying to stay in the mix, Bubba gassed the car, did a '360' and kept going, when a car behind him spun around and drew a caution. Because the lap was not completed, they would revert back to the last completed lap, allowing Bubba to get the lead back.

"I don't even know how I kept that car going after spinning around," Bubba admitted. "I was the luckiest guy there that night because there was no way I was going to run back into one of the top-two spots. I was thanking God at that point."

After picking up the win and transferring to the A-Main, the 20-year-old found himself in a massive pack of top contenders fighting for limited real estate around the 3/8-mile. He would card an 18^th place showing, eighth best among Patriot competitors as far as points were concerned.

The next night the team headed into the unknown to compete at the Little Valley Speedway. Upon setting his eyes on the ½-mile, Bubba quickly realized that this track was much different than anything else on the tour.

"I was excited when I saw the track because I love speed and I felt that it could suit my driving style. We do pretty well at the really big tracks and it looked like it would slick off, which was also beneficial."

Starting near the back of his heat, once again, Bubba quickly charged from seventh to second, easily making the redraw. Like his heat though, he would have another unlucky draw, selecting the No. 8 starting spot in the A-Main.

"The car handled really well after practice, and it continued through the heat. I was unsure about running the high line and didn't test it up there. After talking with Chuck Hebing earlier in the week he said that was where he ran when he won there. The bad draw basically committed me for doing something different, even though I hadn't practiced the line."

On the opening lap, a major crash occurred heading into the first turn right near Bubba, who was able to scoot on by. Unfortunately, Bubba's friend Scott Bonnell was not as fortunate, and would suffer two broken vertebrae as a result of his flip.

"All my prayers go out to him. We have hung out with him a lot of late and he is a terrific guy. I felt really bad and thought about him the entire time under the red flag. I was also thinking about how I could have been a part of it if I didn't try the high line."

Bubba would have to refocus and after one more caution flag the next time around, the race would go to the end without stoppage, which is when Broderick made his moves.

The No. 5 Eagle went up to the top and began rim-riding his way up through the pack. After restarting on lap one in seventh, he would charge to third by lap five and begin to challenge Kyle Moffit. The two youngsters would put on a spirited battle, with Bubba finally getting the spot coming to the white flag.

"I had so much fun up on the top. It was probably one of the top-five races of the career because the speed I was carrying just two feet off the wall was awesome."

A caution flag may have put Broderick in the mix to pick up the win, but without that aid occurring he would have to settle for his fourth top-three of the season.

"I wish we had a caution because it would have put on a great show for the fans. Bryan was really quick but I would have liked to take a chance at him."

The team will now take a weekend off, with the next action occurring on July 17 and 18 at Brockville and Cornwall Speedways in Ontario. These ¼-mile ovals favor Bubba's driving style, and should give him a great chance to be the first three-time winner on the ASCS Patriot Tour this season.

"I am really looking forward to these shows because we always do really well up there and hopefully can pull off another win."

The Broderick Racing Team entered a Western NY Doubleheader looking to put together a pair of solid finishes and perhaps pick up a second win on the season; after not meeting their expectations on Friday, they made up for it on Saturday and then added to it on Sunday.

Bubba made his second trip of his career to Ransomville Speedway on Friday Night. After spending the afternoon with his friends from nearby Niagara Falls, he cruised over to the tricky facility with plenty of company along for the experience.

"It was like going in there for the first time since we had no notes," Bubba reflected. "I looked over the track with Bryan Howland and got a good baseline."

He would charge up in his heat race from fifth up to second place on the final lap to quality for the redraw. Picking the third tennis ball would put him in prime position for the feature, but that is where things stopped going as planned.

"The car worked too well in the heat because we had nothing that we wanted to change. We fell behind on chasing the track and made a big mistake by not tightening the car up."

Despite missing the setup, Bubba would keep the Northeast Carpet/ Pink Monkey Water No. 5 Eagle in one piece and bring it home in 11^th.

The team would regroup and head down the road to Stateline Speedway, one of their best ovals. Bubba knew that this would have to be a time to rebound.

Like he has on two other trips to Jamestown, Bubba dominated his heat race and won in convincing fashion; redrawing the outside pole for the feature was just about all he needed to go after the win.

"The heat race was fun; it proved to me why it is my favorite track. We just had some minor things to correct on the car and we knew it would be solid."

Scott Bonnell would jump out in front at the onset of the 25-lap A-Main but Bubba was close in his tracks until the first caution on lap five. On the ensuing restart, Bonnell broke a part and was out of the event, putting the No. 5 out front.

"That was a great battle with Scott because I could reach his bumper on the straight-aways and then we'd hit a corner and he'd go low and I'd go high. I was going to hang behind him for a while when he broke. I was lucky because it was the one time I didn't use the high line."

The rest of the race would go caution-free, with Bubba blasting the cushion. Defending ASCS Patriot Champion Bryan Howland was not ready to let the 20-year-old from Brookfield, CT run away though, as he hotly pursued him the entire way.

"I had to concentrate and take what the track gave us. I really felt the pressure of needing a win, and then Howland peaked underneath with four laps to go and that was scary because I thought he had reeled me in. There is nobody better in the Patriots in the final five laps than Bryan."

"This is why we do this," he would later say. "To win two times in the first seven races is where we need to be."

The win made Bubba the first repeat winner on the ASCS Patriot Tour this season. It also helped to solidify his position perhaps as the series' finest short-track competitor.

Off the high of their second win, the team took a trip to Sportman's Speedway in Knox, PA for a special charity 410 race on Sunday. When they showed up, 34 teams, including some elite professions were in the pits, all but three had 410 c.i. engines.

When Bubba took his first look at the track, he realized the small oval would suit his driving style, the perfect kind he needed to have some fun.

Bubba put on a clinic in his heat as he raced up from eighth to second, only to get spun out and head to the back. He would rebound and drive back up to third and qualify for the feature by flying around two cars on the final lap.

"I was driving as hard as I could, but there was no bite out there. There was a lot of dust on restarts and you just had to trust the guy in front of you to keep it straight."

In the A-Main, after drawing third for the third straight night, Broderick would find himself battling with Ed Lynch Jr. for fourth place, someone he has admired for years.

"I gained even more respect for him because he gave me a ton of room and we swapped it for fourth about four times."

In the late stages of the event at the 1/3-mile oval but figured since no points were on the line, he would go for it all. It did not pay off as he spun out and went to the back; still the results were positive.

"I tried to make a pass on the very high side of the track like I saw Daryn Pittman do earlier in the race, but I didn't pull it off. It still was a great show, I had a lot of fans congratulate me in the end and knowing that we could battle with the 410's made our day."

The team now prepares for another big weekend at a pair of big tracks: Ohsweken and Little Valley. It will be Bubba's first trip to Little Valley, as it will be for many competitors.

Traveling from Connecticut each weekend to run the ASCS Patriot tour means plenty of hours on the road. Occasionally, the races the Broderick Racing team has on the schedule a stand-alone event that can test their determination. Upon reflection, it can define it.

Two weeks ago, the team traveled to Niagara Falls on Thursday Night in anticipation for a Friday Night event at Ohsweken Speedway in Southern Ontario. Before even traveling across the border, the event was called off due to wet grounds. Not wanting to head home empty handed, they quickly scurried down to Central Pennsylvania for a major race at Historic Williams Grove Speedway. Once again though, Mother Nature intervened and wiped out racing action. The team headed home until another attempt at a Canadian race the following week.

"That was a very, very long drive," noted Bubba. "Once Ohsweken rained out, we knew we had come this far and didn't want to go home without racing."

"To have the opportunity to run Williams Grove was something I really wanted to try. We paid the membership, bought the tire, setup the car and drew the pill, and then it downpours. It really sucked; I wanted to drive that track. It looked crazy."

"That was a lot of driving and we spent a lot of money for nothing. Nobody was talking on the way home. It was trip from hell."

Another treacherous forecast for a Saturday race at Brockville put racing in doubt for Bubba. But as the headed north on I-81, things began to look better, that was, until they hit the border.

The team was pulled into customs and interrogated, as were a handful of other teams. After more than two hours, they were finally set free and arrived at the track after the rest of the competitors had already run hot laps.

"My heart was pumping more than it ever has. I really didn't think we were going to get in to Canada. I knew we had done nothing wrong but it was very nerve-racking because I knew that it would throw away the championship if I couldn't make it."

"Once they let us through, it was like winning a race. We had to load the trailer back up before we could leave, and I put my driver's suit on right away."

Behind the 8-ball, they scrambled to get heat in the motor and get ready to run a hot lap session of their own. The No. 5 was off in hot laps, forcing the team to thrash for their heat.

"I was still angry over the border incident but I just had to calm down and the crew helped me realize that after hot laps. The car was too soft and I knew we had to make some adjustments."

Moving from fourth to third in his heat assured Bubba a redraw position. Drawing the No. 7 ball though would make going back-to-back a near impossibility on the narrow ¼-mile, something the maturing Broderick realized.

"I thought the track might slick off in the middle and that would be my only hope for a win. If it came to me, then it came to me, but I couldn't go too hard at the start because I had to be smart getting through the pack. I just went one car at a time."

Never finishing outside of the top-10 in three starts at "The BOS", Bubba quickly jumped into the top-five, taking control of third by lap 10. The rest of the way, Bubba would hang with second-place Don Adamczyk, but could not find a way by and would settle for another solid podium showing.

"(Race Winner Jared) Zimbardi was totally gone, but I thought maybe I could get Don on a restart, but the car was just a little bit too tight for it. It was still a great run."

The 20-year-old from Brookfield, CT now sits just 64 points out of the series lead. Under a new point format, that is the difference from first to last in a single race; with 2/3 of the season still left, he realizes that his early-season bad luck has not crushed their ultimate goal.

"I know I can not screw up at this point. There is more weight on my shoulders to do well, but we are heading to another good track for me this weekend in Stateline, and should do well there."

Ransomville will be the Friday Night portion of the two-race weekend for the No. 5 team. With only one start at "The Big R", Bubba still is getting the feel for this tricky track. He has been noting what it takes to get to win their though and is ready to try it out.

Bubba was arguably the strongest competitor at Stateline in 2009. Despite not winning, he led more laps than any other driver and was a force to be reckoned with.

"If we can just keep plugging away with top-five finishes that is what we need. The key for me though is to not worry about that at the track and just drive the car."

Bubba Broderick Blasts Cushion to Bring Home ASCS Patriot Win at Stateline A night after having what his team termed an “embarrassing outing” at Ransomville, Bubba Broderick took advantage of a visit to one of his best racetracks, as well as a competitors misfortune, to win. Broderick, making the long tow from Brookfield, CT, became the first repeat winner of the 2010 season on the ASCS Patriot Tour, claiming the 25-lap Paul Johnson Memorial at Stateline Speedway to kick off the Insinger Race Fuels King of the Southern Tier. Broderick used his mastery of the cushion to outduel defending series champion Bryan Howland for 20 straight laps. “I love this place! This is my favorite track,” Broderick reverberated after a wild 25-lap excursion. The 20-year-old had also made that declaration earlier in the night. Scott Bonnell drew the pole position and led the first five circuits of the feature by running the bottom lane. Broderick, who started third, hung close to the No. 3B by using the top until the first caution flag of the event flew for a spin in turn three collecting Shayne Ely and Doug Bowman. On the lap six restart, Bonnell’s car had a part fail in the steering and sent his No. 3B across the track and straight into the outside wall. With Bonnell out, it was now up to Broderick to hold off Howland, the most recent winner at Stateline. “I wish I would have been able to race with (Bonnell),” admitted Broderick after the race. “He was running real strong on the bottom and it would have been a good battle.” In what would turn out to be the final restart of the event, Broderick got a good launch off turn two, as did Howland, allowing the youthful duo to break away and sort it out between themselves. “I could hear (Howland), but I felt like I had a good lead mid-race and started to relax,” said Broderick in Victory Lane, where in reality he was only about two car lengths ahead. “On about lap 20 I saw the 51 peak underneath me, but I figured I’d be best to stay up top since I had not seen how I was on the bottom. I also thought that if I was able to drive around him on that lap that it was were the momentum off the corner was.” The former Rookie of the Year recipients hit lapped traffic with about five laps remaining, but with all of those cars on the bottom lane, they were clear to swing on by on the top. On one occasion, Howland get a drive off the middle of turn two and made slight contact with the left rear of the Northeast Carpet/ Pink Monkey Water No. 5, but they sorted it out. In Victory Lane, Howland was quick to come over and congratulate Broderick on his win. The winner was quick to reciprocate the sentiments as he mentioned to Howland how fun it was to battle with him for 20 straight laps. The win was important for Broderick on a number of fronts. He had come very close to his first career win at the 1/3-mile oval last June but when the cushion got too close to the wall, Jared Zimbardi was able to get underneath him. This year, the cushion, as well as the final result, was different. “I couldn’t stay on the cushion too long around the corner,” admitted Broderick. “I had to just lean on it briefly. Edition 2- A Much-Needed Win

As if climbing on top of the roll cage, screaming at the top of his lungs and flinging Ciao Water across Victory Lane didn't tell the whole story; Bubba Broderick was quick to explain verbally what winning Sunday Night at Eriez Speedway meant to him and the team.

"We needed this win real bad," Bubba declared in Victory Lane. "We've been working real hard with this brand new chassis and on this new car after the Canandaigua Crash. It proves to us that we can still do it."

Bubba knew two weeks ago that he was entering his best stretch of racetracks to round out the month of May, but a rainout before the feature was run at Woodhull, where Bubba had earned a redraw spot, meant that he would have to wait for Memorial Weekend to go after his first top-10 of the season.

"We had a decent car that night, but I knew we weren't as good as we should be there," he admitted. "The rain was actually a relief that we can figure out the car for that feature in July."

The team got to Sharon Speedway early on Saturday and appeared to be poised to duplicate or better his third place effort from Memorial Weekend 2009 at the Eastern Ohio Facility.

After moving from eighth to sixth in his heat, Bubba would find himself in the Four Laps of Fame Dash, where he would finish in second and start the A-Main in ninth. The track was tricky in the 25-lap Feature though, and despite having some bright moments and crossing in seventh, the No. 5 Team was scratching their head after the Checkered Flag Flew.

"It looked like a good finish on paper, but it felt awful for us. We just couldn't get the car to get in the racetrack. We knew we had to do something because it just wasn't going forward."

After sleeping over at the track, the team woke up early Sunday Morning and got back on the 3/8-mile oval, testing for about 40 laps to get a better feel for their new Eagle Chassis.

"It helped (Crew Chief) Bones get a better feel for what the car did, and that allowed me to establish better communication with him. When we finished I finally felt comfortable about the way we were coming off the corner."

The team entered Eriez with new found confidence, which was quite impressive at a track where Bubba was a runner-up in both races there in 2009.

Moving from sixth to fourth in the heats where passing was difficult was enough to put Bubba in the redraw. Pulling the No. 2 tennis ball would set the stage for more than just his first top-five of the season.

"The other drivers had been talking about the bottom all night, and that's where a lot of people were in the other heat, but I have never been a bottom person. I was so happy to be on the outside of the front row and a felt a berm was still out there. On the warm-up lap I went up there and felt the moisture and knew we were good."

When the green flag flew, Bubba quickly jumped out in front on the cushion and sailed away from a field. A caution on lap six would allow a number of drivers to get another crack at Bubba, but nobody was in his league on this night.

It appeared as the race went on that the bottom might be coming in, but Bubba was blasting the cushion and maintaining his hefty lead. As solid as he was on the top, he did come ultra-close to the outside wall on numerous occasions.

"I felt like those guys were right on me, I always get paranoid in that situation. That cushion did keep getting closer to the wall and with about five to go I knew it was really high and getting slick too. But I knew if I went to the bottom it was uncharted waters and might cost me the race."

Bubba would avoid any disaster and hang on for his second career ASCS Patriot Win. It also put him back into the championship picture and helped to bolster the confidence level.

"When you get that first win, it's a huge weight off your shoulders," he reflected on Tuesday. "You don't think about not winning any more, just about winning."

The focus now shifts to this Friday's event at Ohsweken, where Bubba has qualified for both Canadian Nationals that he attempted.

"I definitely like Ohsweken, but we have never done well there. I just feel we are on a roll right now though so I know we have the setup to get it done."

Bubba Broderick is a 20-year-old from Brookfield, CT in his third year of full-time 360 sprint car racing. He was the 2008 Insinger Race Fuels Rookie of the Year for the ASCS Patriots and scored his first career win at Arcade International Raceway last June. The Broderick Racing Team was named "Patriots of the Year" in 2009.

HAMMETT- Race time arrived with temperatures in the upper 70s for the invasion of the ASCS Patriot Sprints to Eriez Speedway on Sunday.

Connecticut's Bubba Broderick came away from his 8 -hour tow with the win. Ben Burgess Jr won his third feature of the season while Mike Knight, Wade Slaney, and Jamie Hebner got their second wins of the season. The wildest finish of the season was the Street Stock finale with Chris Withers coming away with the win in a three abreast photo-finish. And Scott Gurdak make his first visit to Victory Lane.

Broderick jumped out to the early lead in the ASCS Patriot Sprint race with Kyle Moffit second. Heat winner Judi Bates spun in turn four at lap six for the first caution of the event. At that point local driver Scott Bonnell was third, but Jared Zimbardi got by for third on the first lap under gree and Zimbardi was second at the end of eight.

At halfway, Broderick had a substantial lead over Zimbardi and was in lapped traffic. Bryan Howland got third from Moffit at lap 17, but caution was again over the speedway with six laps to go for a two-car tangle on the main straight, evaporating Broderick's huge lead.

For the restart the lapped car was the only thing between Zimbardi and the leader. Running the extreme high line, Broderick had the field covered over the remaining distance with Zimbardi settling for second with Bryan Howland, Tim Kelly, and pole sitter Kyle Moffit filling out the top five.

Bubba Broderick wasn't taking any chances at Eriez Speedway on Sunday night.

He finished second twice in ASCS Patriot Sprints features at the Greene Township dirt track in 2009.

So despite having leads as large as a full straightaway, Broderick risked crashing into the turn 4 wall several times to earn his first win at Eriez and second career ASCS win in front of about 4,000 fans.

"When you're ahead from the beginning, you're on the go all the way," said Broderick, a Brookfield, Conn., native. "I'm so excited right now. We needed this. We're going to be celebrating."

Broderick immediately grabbed the lead from the outside pole. Before long his lead stretched to three seconds. A caution on the seventh lap failed to keep him from maintaining a commanding lead.

Broderick built his advantage by racing on the high side. With each lap, his No. 5 car seemed to inch closer to the fourth turn's outside wall. His sense of urgency intensified at the midway point.

He caught a quick glimpse of runner-up Jared Zimbardi on the inside.

Broderick wondered if he should slide inside to stay ahead of Zimbardi. Instead, he remained high, almost too high in the fourth turn with seven laps left. His car wiggled a bit as it entered the front straightaway.

"A couple of times I got sideways on the straightaways," Broderick said.

But nothing stopped him, including the feature's final caution with five laps left. Broderick capitalized on having a slower lapped car between him and Zimbardi's No. 35 car.

"I thought I could give Bubba (a strong challenge)," said Zimbardi, of Little Valley, N.Y. But the lapped car kept Zimbardi from getting a strong restart. "He did a good job," Zimbardi said of Broderick, who maintained a comfortable lead all the way to the checkered flag to secure the victory.

Broderick Blows Away ASCS Patriots at Eriez

Rich Vleck, ERIE, Penn. (May 30, 2010) Bubba Broderick has always been known for driving his sprint car to the limit, so when he jumped out in front of the ASCS Patriot Field in the A-Main Sunday Night at Eriez there was no question he would once again be on the edge. It was this tight line that he walked that made him exciting to watch, even though he had a three second lead most of the race.

Broderick, 20, from Brookfield, CT, led all 25 laps of the second leg of the Mike Emhof Motorsports King of OH/PA Series to collect the $2,000 top prize. As is the case many times in sprint car competition, Broderick had no idea he had more than a three second lead for much of the race and flirted with the outside walls and ultimate disaster the entire way.

"I love coming to this place," declared Broderick after climbing down from his Northeast Carpet/ Ciao Water No. 5 Wing in Victory Lane. "We had two seconds last year and I wasn't going to let this one slip away, we really needed it."

The third-year sprint chauffer rode the rim of the tight 1/3-mile the entire way, while Jared Zimbardi was moving through the pack running the bottom. Under caution with six laps remaining, Zimbardi pulled up underneath Broderick to put a thought in his mind.

"I saw (Zimbardi) coming up through and figured he was doing it on the bottom," noted Bubba after the race, eluding to his ability to see the scoreboard and recognize that the No. 35 had advanced from seventh to second. "In that last right I wasn't going to back down at all because I figured he had to be real strong."

Broderick had the benefit of having a lapped car placed between himself and Zimbardi on the lap 20 restart, but even so would reestablish a lead of over three seconds and make his only opponent the outside retaining walls, which he was flirting with constantly.

"You guys probably saw me sideways down the front stretch here," he told the packed grandstand in his Victory Lane Interview. "I was getting really close to that wall and might even have touched it once."

For the youngster from Connecticut, his second career ASCS Patriot win came just at the right time after being a bit off in the first month of the season. Committed to improving their results, the Broderick Racing team took an opportunity Sunday Morning to test at Sharon Speedway and get a feel for their Eagle, a new chassis for the team in 2010.

As Broderick checked out from the field, Jared Zimbardi completed a solid second place showing at the sight of his first career ASCS Patriot win. After redrawing the seventh starting spot, "The Juice" knew winning would be a tall order but ran the inside rail with ease to collect his third runner-up showing in a row. Jared conceded after the race that a better starting spot still might not have been good enough to dethrone Broderick on the night.

Bryan Howland finished in third, where he started, but had an up and down race in between. Howland would slip back to fifth but close in at the end and nearly steal second away from Zimbardi. It was the third top-three for Howland in this young season, helping him to solidify his point lead.

Tim Kelly rebounded from a tough heat to run up to fourth after starting 10th. Kyle Moffit would round out the top-five for his fifth top-six at Eriez in as many starts.

Judi Bates won National Parts Peddler Heat 1 and rebounded from a spin on lap six while running sixth to get back to that spot by the checkered flag. Bates would get by Putnam Painting/ Bonnell's Collision Four Laps of Fame Winner Vern Wasson in the closing laps, as Wasson would hold on for a career-best seventh place finish. Wasson was as high as fifth with five laps remaining.

Local favorite Scott Bonnell struggled with an incorrect gear choice and would place eighth, with Heat 2 Winner Don Adamczyk crossing in ninth after getting collected in a lap 19 incident with Gary Kriess while the two were attempting to avoid a slower car. Gary Troutman rounded out the top-10.

On a perfect weather day, the stands at Eriez were absolutely loaded with fans looking forward to the Patriots. They were on hand to witness the first start in a sprint for Bob Reis, who made his debut in the No. 4 but battled mag issues.

Edition 1- Roller Coaster Opening

Entering his third full season in full-sized sprint cars, Bubba Broderick expects big results as he tours throughout the Northeast. Unfortunately, two races into the season, things have already been challenging the Brookfield, CT hot shoe. But that doesn't mean he is ready to quit.

Bubba spent Monday, May 17, traveling to Central Pennsylvania along with "Bones", his crew chief, picking up new pieces to get his new Eagle Chassis prepared for this Saturday's ASCS Patriot event at Woodhull, one of Broderick's best tracks. This run down the road was necessary after a series of bad luck severely broke his primary mount in just the second feature of the year.

April 30, Black Rock, ASCS Patriots-

The Broderick Racing team rolled into the Finger Lakes early on a beautiful Friday Afternoon to start the 2010 season, but there were plenty of unknowns. Using an Eagle Chassis, something new to the team, they were hoping for practice before Black Rock and thus knew the first race of the season might have some learning curves.

"We went through a shakedown to in practice, because we basically put the car together two days before," said Bubba. "I was really excited to use the Eagle," "It was all about dialing the car in, because we had no practice on the car."

After qualifying for the A-Main through his heat race, Bubba got some much-needed track time in his Northeast Carpet No. 5 in the dash to set him up for the feature. The problem would be that it would be his final chance to learn about characteristics the car that night.

On the first lap of the A-Main, Gary Kriess flipped wildly in front of much of the pack, sending about 15 drivers scurrying, Broderick included.

"It was like a Daytona wreck. Cars were everywhere," recalled Bubba. "I was already on the inside and I had nowhere to go but the infield."

"Me and Lance (Yonge) got together, and bent the radius rod, and the shock." He would visit the work area but did not have the parts there to make necessary replacements. "I said 'screw it, I need the points' and went back out there and ran the rest of the race. So I never got a really good practice about it."

"It actually came out to be a good day because we went to the back and brought it back up to 12^th. I'm never happy being out of the top-10 but that car was really hard to handle."

May 15, Canandaigua, ASCS Patriots-

The team was more composed after surviving Black Rock and having a week off to have the car re-lettered and touched up heading to Canandaigua, but would not end on as solid of footing.

"The night was like being a roller coaster," he noted. "The night started off so great." "I drew the No. 2 pill, the practice was great, and everything was going well."

Bubba jumped out in front of the pack in his heat race and had a comfortable lead, when his car jumped out of gear, slowing him on the front stretch. An alert Broderick somehow managed to pop it back into gear and would stay in third. It would happen again two laps later, and again Broderick would salvage a decent finish to come across in third.

"I don't know how I managed to pop back into gear," he admitted. "In my Mustang, I shift the car without using the clutch so I knew how to get it back in. You have to mash the gas at the exact time."

Despite finishing in third, slipping two spots would give Bubba negative passing points and relegate his No. 5 to the B-Main. He would qualify with ease and get valuable information heading to the A-Main.

"We were having trouble with a few bumps in turn 1 that I just could not get around. Bones made a few adjustments and the car really was comfortable in the feature, because the car was going to tighten up if the race went long enough."

He had moved from 20^th to 13^th by lap 13 when a wreck involving Dylan Swiernik and Scott Bonnell occurred just ahead of Broderick. Bubba looked to scoot by but that is when things went terribly wrong.

"I was racing hard with Tim Kelly, and I saw Bonnell spun out in the corner of my eye. I was planning to go underneath and I went to hit the breaks and it went all the way to the floor. The breaks weren't totally lost but there was no time to pump. I got up into the loose stuff and spun the car to get it away from the wall, but it ended up backing right into the wall. It was a really hard hit, I started seeing blurred vision."

In the end, the entire rear end of the Eagle Chassis was a mangeled mess. There was also a host of other pieces damaged on the car, including the rear end and shocks. Despite the trials and tribulations, Bubba had a realistic view on the night.

"It's racing, that's all I can say. We went from being in the redraw to starting in 20^thand that just got us in the way of trouble."

Broderick is optimistic about turning his season around in the near future though as he has top-five finishes at Woodhull, Sharon and Eriez, the next three stops on the ASCS Patriot Tour.

Bubba Update - Blackrock Speedway 04-30-10

It was the Season Opener for Bubba in his new Eagle Chassis. Crew Chief Bones Stevens worked the kinks out in the shop and put a fast together a fast car when it rolled out of the trailer and onto the track.

The 30 car field left it to the luck of the draw and it was not so lucky with a pick of 45 out of 50 put Bubba in the back of the first heat. The heat was loaded with front runners from the ASCS & ESS sprint car series and Bubba worked his way to the front 4 positions to capture a spot in the A Main and the 4 lap dash where he finished in the 4th.
In the A Main Bubba Started in the 22nd and worked his way up to 15th before he got tangled up with another competitor and bent a radius rod. After a quick pit stop he got back on the track and charged back up to the 12th position before the checkers flew.

Bubba and the #5 team wrapped up their sophomore racing season with a 4th place finish in the ASCS point standings, bettering their 6th place finish in '08. The team was able to make all of the scheduled events with the Patriot Series, and included various events with the Empire Super Sprints and the World of Outlaws. In all, Bubba competed in 31 events in the full size sprint car, resulting in 2 A-Main Feature Wins, 10 Top Fives, 16 Top Tens, and 22 Top Fifteens. The wins came at Genesee Speedway and Arcade Speedway. A highlight of the 2009 season was Bubba's spectacular flip at Cornwall Motor Speedway. The crew got him back and competing the next weekend, and pulled off his first ASCS win at Arcade.

It was another good run for Bubba and the team in Canada with a
respectable 8th place finish. Bubba made his way up to 7th place
before making the challenge for 6th. He was brought up high on the
back stretch and forced over the berm to slide all the way back to the
16th position with no caution. Bubba charged to the front using all
the lines to gain postions. When the checkers flew he picked off 8
positions.

This is the last event of the season, but will be keeping all updated
throughout the off- season.

It was Bubba and the team's first time ever to Fonda Speedway. From
the start it was a challenge trying to figure out the egg-shaped oval.
With making changes for the B Main, the set up for the car was
improved, and Bubba moved from the back to finish the B Main one spot
out of transferring to the feature event. Since it was not a points
race for the team, it goes down as a learning experience for the next
time they visit the track.

Bubba and the team will be at Arbitell Convenience for fan
appreciation day on Sunday morning, so stop by for all the day's
activities.

Canadian Nationals - "The Night Before the National"

Almost 70 cars attended the Friday night show and only 2 cars would transfer from the Friday night event to Saturday's feature. Since this is an open event, all drivers had to draw for starting position for the night. Luck was not on hand for Bubba with a draw of 92 out of 100, this put him starting in the back of the pack in the qualifying heat race starting 10th in one of the six heat races for the evening.

In order to qualify for one of the evening's Twin 15 lap events, he needed to finish in the top 5. Bubba made the charge from 10th to 4th moving him into one of the night's feature events.

Bubba & Bones thought they would need to step up and make some changes to remain competitive in the feature event, since a win was the only way to guarantee a transfer to Saturday's feature. So they adjusted the car, and Bubba set out for the feature event, right away Bubba figured out that the changes did not help the car. No worries though, because Saturday's event put all but 2 cars back on a level playing field with time trials and heat races for the final night at the Canadian Nationals.

The night started off good for Bubba with 50+ cars attempting to
qualify for the Thursday night show. Bubba won his heat race and
qualified for the dash finishing 3rd. He started the feature event
from the outside pole. Durring the 4 wide parade lap Bubba noticed
that the front wing was broken but tried his best to keep going but
the damaged wing altered the handling of the car and when the checkers
flew he was in 20th place.

Two more nights of racing for Bubba and the team in Canada at
Oshweken. Will keep you updated. - Chris

Bubba had a great night! Starting fourth, he ran a good line to finish
second. He passed the 3t and the 3b cars early on, and when a caution

Bubba was strong in the heat until he bumped the wall and lost a
driveshaft. The team got him back on the track for the B Main and
Bubba charged to the front. In 8 laps Bubba moved up seven spots to
12th place before he got a right front flat. Back on the track one
more time to come from the back to finish in the 12th position.

Bubba was fast in the heat race taking the lead from the 7th starting position and moving right up to the front and taking the lead by 4 car lengths before the steering arm broke sending Bubba into the wall and ending his night. Broderick Now A Two Time 360 Winner

Brookfield, CT - The past few weeks have been a time that young Bubba Broderick will never forget. In that time period the defending Lucas Oil ASCS Patriot Region Rookie of the Year walked away from what could be labeled as the tours wreck of the year, solidified a top five championship run and graced victory lane – twice.

Coming into the July 11^th program at the Genesee Speedway, Broderick had yet to reach victory lane in the 360 sprint car ranks. Following a rain out at the Woodhull Raceway, the Broderick team pulled into the Genesee pit area for the first time this season. After winning his heat race from the sixth position and set his sights on the feature event. Bubba had little trouble in the feature, taking the lead on lap two and cruising home to his first career full sized sprint car win.

Broderick's success continued on a couple of weeks later. The 19 year old Connecticut driver traveled to the Arcade International Raceway for a tough ASCS battle on July 24^th. In short it was a great night for the team.

They barely made it to the event following a horrible wreck at the Cornwall Motor Speedway in Ontario less than a week earlier. Following that devastating flip the team worked feverishly to make it to Arcade on time. Once there they started winning right out of the hauler. Broderick claimed his heat race win from the pole, which placed him third on the A-Main starting grid. Bubba conquered the field, taking the feature event by six seconds.

"I can't believe we finally did it," stated Broderick in Victory Lane. "We knew we were getting close and it was just a matter of time."

Broderick would continue: "I thought someone was right there. I have a new blower in my helmet and the motor makes it seem like someone is always on the inside. After what happened at Cornwall I had to put that out of my mind though."

Since his initial ASCS conquest, the Broderick team has participated in events at the Black Rock Speedway and Fulton Speedway. At Black Rock on August 7^th Broderick would finish 9^th in the A-Main after starting 18^th. The following night at Fulton the team started on the pole and would finish sixth.

The Broderick Team now sits fourth in the season long Lucas Oil, ASCS Patriot Sprints point standings. They finished eighth in the A-Verdi King of Central New York standings.

Bubba started on the pole and led the race for the first five laps. He was trying to find the fast line and moved up into the top groove and found out that it was not the fastest way around the track. But overall it was a good night closing the gap in the season points race over the leaders, sitting in 4th place overall in the ASCS Patriot Series.

It was a long night at Blackrock with a 34 car field it is luck of the draw for a good starting position. Bubba had his hands full starting from the back in his heavily competitive heat race and missed getting into one of the 3 transfer spots. Having to make it into the feature from one of the B mains Bubba drove from the back to finish in the 2nd place to secure his spot in the feature. A couple of early cautions helped Bubba move toward the front but the last 17 laps were caution free and could only move up to the 9th position before the checkers flew for Trevor Lewis.

Bubba and the team are back on the road this morning heading up to Fulton Speedway for the second half of the ASCS Patriot Sprint weekend.

Bubba Broderick wasn't even sure he could make it on Friday, but in the end he was sure glad he played at Arcade.

Broderick, 19, of Brookfield, CT, made the long trip pay off with his first career Lucas Oil ASCS Patriot A-Main Victory. The victory was not only sweet as he finally broke through; it was equally as satisfying in that he won by a half-track.

"I can't believe we finally did it," stated Broderick in Victory Lane. "We knew we were getting close and it was just a matter of time."

While his results have been impressive in his sophomore season, a wild flip five days earlier at Cornwall Motor Speedway put the actuality of a win in peril. After finally getting back to Connecticut on Monday Morning, Broderick and the crew thrashed to make the long trek this weekend.

"The second we got home we started working on the car and put in a lot of hours," added the defending Insinger Race Fuels Rookie of the Year in regards to his Ciao Water No. 5 which suffered significant cosmetic damage but thankfully did not injure his Maxim Frame.

Known for his cushion-running style, Broderick flirted with the outer wall on numerous occasions, including coming to the white flag when he nearly tagged the outside barrier. Even though his advantage was more than six seconds, the youngster had no idea.

"I thought someone was right there. I have a new blower in my helmet and the motor makes it seem like someone is always on the inside. After what happened at Cornwall (tagging the wall) I had to put that out of my mind though."

Broderick dominated National Parts Peddler Heat No. 3 and redrew the third starting position for the A-Main. Before a lap was ever completed though the No. 5 would be in the front, as a myriad of issues would slow the race from hitting high gear.

"Bubba (Broderick) showed me (the high line) earlier in the feature," noted Howland after the completion of the first race in the Riverside Bar and Grill King of the St. Lawrence Series. "I knew I could get up there and make it work."

Broderick had gone sailing around Howland on the top of the track in the opening laps, even though the No. 51 was strong after pulling the No. 8 redraw ball. Both competitors went forward all night on the tight and tacky ¼-mile.

The win gave Howland back the point lead at the mid-point of the 2009 schedule. It also was his first at Brockville after coming so close the last time the Patriots visited the speedway in 2007.

Broderick overall had an up and down night, as the 19-year-old from Brookfield, CT came from sixth in the dash to second, earning him a 10th place starting spot in the A-Main. He was up to sixth by the second lap and moved to fourth on lap seven. The Ciao Water No. 5 began to fade though, yet would follow Howland through on the top in the closing laps to pick up the runner-up position on the final lap from Bergeron.

Bubba Broderick made the trip to Batavia on Saturday Night to work out some bugs and ended up walking away with his first career full-sized sprint car victory.

The Brookfield, CT invader took the lead on lap two of the 15-lap feature and walked away with the feature victory in his Ciao Water No. 5. Broderick also picked up the heat win over John Venuto, who would pick up second. Brian Sage was third while Vern Wasson and Jeremy Barnard rounded out the top-five.

Heat Started 6th Finished 1st Feature Finished 1st Bubba and the team made the trip to Gennesee Speedway in Batavia on Saturday Night after the ESS race a Woodhull was rained out. Bubba swept up the competition and getting his first career full-sized sprint car victory. Taking the lead on lap 2 he never looked back in the feature event. Congratulations go out to Bubba the Crew and all the Sponsors of the Broderick Racing Team. Bubba and the team will also be making the trip to Weedspoert, NY tonight to compete with the ASCS sprints for a Sunday evening event at the Cayuga Fairgrounds Speedway.

Bubba started in 15th spot and was up to ninth on the second lap and was going for the eighth position when the yolk on the drive shaft broke and sidelined him for the race. The team has made the repairs to thee ASCS Sprint and will make the trip to Woodhull Speedway to compete with the ESS sprints on Saturday night. Sunday the team will also be making the trip to Weedspoert, NY to compete with the ASCS sprints on Sunday evening at the Cayuga Fairgrounds Speedway.

July 9, 2009 - Broderick Has Busy Independence Day Weekend Brookfield, CT - The Independence Day Weekend was a learning experience for the Broderick Racing Team. The team would make the tow to the Oshweken Speedway on Friday night followed by their first ever appearance at the Utica-Rome Speedway on Sunday. At Oshweken, Bubba and team chased a fuel problem. Despite this Bubba came home fourth in the heat race after starting sixth. In the feature event he would roll off 16th and continue to battle fuel problems. During the feature he would get lose and with a little help, be involved in a wreck. He would not be able to get the repairs fixed with in the two minute deadline and thus was scored with a "did not finish". The team's initial Utica-Rome appearance was definitely one to chalk up as a learning experience. Bubba came home with a fifth place finish in his heat race which line him up 17th for the SUNY Canton, Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints A-Main. On lap two he spun and was forced to restart last. By lap five he had moved to 21st and was 18th by the fifth lap. In the end he would finish 15th. A total of 39 cars checked in to race at Utica-Rome. The team will travel to Central New York this weekend to compete at the Brewerton Speedway on Friday and the Cayuga County Fair Speedway on Sunday.

Following a 2nd lap spin, Bubba charged back to a 15th place finish. The first time at the track for Bubba and the team and when Bubba found his line he was running laps as fast as the leaders. Since it was not a points race it was a good learning curve for the team when they return to the track.

Chasing a fuel problem,Bubba made it into the feature event. it was not the best night starting the feature in 16th the car got loose and bubba got pushed up and over. Bubba and the crew scrambled to get back out on the track but could not make the 2 minute deadline to make all the repairs.

Bubba and the crew will asess the damage in the morning back in the US.

As the Niagara Falls gang says "Bubba keep it rubber side down".

Next race will be on Sunday at Utica Rome Speedway with the Empire Sprint Series.

July 1, 2009 - Broderick Close To Another ASCS Top 5

By Toby LaGrange / LaGrange Motorsports Media Brookfield, CT - Bubba Broderick returned to action Saturday night at the Stateline Speedway in far western New York. The night started off on a great note for the reigning Lucas Oil ASCS Patriots Rookie of the Year. He won his heat race, setting himself and the team up for a great starting position. He took advantage of that and by lap two was the race leader, passing Bobby Breen. He would lead through lap 13 when Breen would re-pass him for the top spot. With the leaders down low, Broderick continued his charge to regain the lead and the second position he had lost to eventual race winner Jared Zimbardi. With one lap remaining he looped the immaculate looking number five and had to settle for a 12th place finish. Currently the team sits fourth in the overall point standings and third in the PJ Motorsports King of the Southern Tier standings.

6/27/2009 - Stateline Speedway, Jamestown, NY Heat Start 4th Finish 1st Feature - Led eleven laps and finished 12th. June 20, 2009 - Patriots Postponed by Rain at Jamestown Rich Vleck, TULSA, Okla

With heavy rains hitting the Stateline Speedway overnight and more rain forecasted for later in the day, the decision has been made to cancel the racing program for Saturday Night and move the first of two Lucas Oil ASCS Patriot Regional events at Stateline this year to next Saturday.

After being rained out at the 1/3-mile track just south of Jamestown, NY in the town of Busti last year, early precipitation made this decision easier for the Stateline staff. It will also set up one wild Saturday Next week. What was supposed to be the only off weekend remaining in the 2009 schedule will now include a fireworks display for the fans and competitors of the tight and tricky oval.

With the race now moved to June 27, the two sprint car stops at Stateline will now be just four weeks apart, with the second trip scheduled for July 25.

June 16, 2009 - Broderick Third In ASCS Patriot Points By Toby LaGrange / LaGrange Motorsports Media Brookfield, CT - The Broderick Racing team headed west to the Canandaigua Speedway Saturday night for the sixth event on the Lucas Oil ASCS Patriot Sprint Series. It was a solid night for the defending series Rookie of the Year Bubba Broderick. The night started with a top five finish in the third of four heat races. This put him in the fourth starting position for the Doug Mattison Memorial Four Laps of Fame Dash. He would finish third, which would line him up 11th on the starting grid. When the green flag flew on the 22 car field Bubba looked good. Then the sharp looking number five lost power steering. Broderick was able to muscle the car home in the 11th position. Following the action at Canandaigua, Broderick sits third in the series point's standings. In addition, he ranks eighth in the A-Verdi King of Central New York standings. Next week the team will head to the Stateline Speedway in western New York.

Brookfield, CT - Broderick Racing continued their consistent Lucas Oil ASCS Patriot Sprint Series season Saturday night at the Woodhull Raceway. The teams driver, Bubba Broderick turned in another podium worthy performance – finishing the 25 lap A-Main in the third position. The night started with a win in the first National Parts Peddler heat race, besting a tough ten car field. In the feature he would take the green in the seventh position and set his sights on those winged racers in front of him. With the third place finish, Broderick Racing now sits third in the race for the Lucas Oil ASCS Patriot Championship. He trails leader Bryan Howland by a mere 20 points. The 360 Sprint Car will get the weekend off as the series will not be in action again until June 13th at the Canandaigua Speedway. This weekend Broderick Racing will compete with the Empire Lightning Sprints on Friday night at the Albany-Saratoga Speedway and on Saturday night at the Whip City Speedway aboard the teams 1200 cc Sprint Car.

Broderick Lands Memorial Day Weekend Podium Finishes

May 28, 2009 - By Toby LaGrange / LaGrange Motorsports Media Brookfield, CT - The Broderick Racing Team hit the road this past weekend with races in Ohio and Western Pennsylvania, with each event being sanctioned by the ASCS. On Saturday the team headed to Ohio and the Blaney families Sharon Speedway. Bubba's assault on the historic race track started with a heat race win. The win was impressive coming from the third position. Come feature time the team was ready for action. After starting third, Bubba challenged for the lead and on lap 23 took it from leader Blake Breen. Lapped traffic allowed Breen to regain the lead. In the end Broderick finished in the third position. The next night the Broderick Team headed towards the Eriez Speedway in Pennsylvania. Once again the night started with a strong heat race run, this time a second. This put Bubba on the pole for the feature. In the end he would finish second, impressing the Western Pennsylvania race fans. Next week the team will head to the Woodhull Raceway in Woodhull, New York.

May 18, 2009 - Broderick Scores Win #1 Of 2009

Brookfield, CT - Bubba Broderick was a busy racer this weekend. The 19 year old Connecticut driver visited three tracks in two days, putting hundreds of miles on the beautiful Broderick Racing hauler. On Friday night Broderick Racing towed into the Black Rock Speedway for the second event on the Lucas Oil ASCS Patriot Region 360 Sprint Car schedule. Up first was the heat race that saw ten drivers take the green. Bubba suffered a broken left rear shock, hampering his efforts. He battled through it and finished fifth. The fifth place finish put him in the Four Laps of Fame Dash. He would place fifth at the finish. In the feature the shock problems continued – this time the culprit was the right rear shock. Like the heat race, Broderick persevered and came home with a tenth place finish. Following the racing action at Black Rock Broderick sits in a tie for seventh in the point standings. Saturday was a double header day for the Broderick Racing team. Early Saturday morning the team headed for the Albany-Saratoga Speedway for an open test and tune session. They joined 19 other Empire Lightning Sprint – 1200 cc Mini Sprints at the Great Race Place. Bubba looked really good out on the 4/10ths mile track, turning some of the fastest laps of the day. From Albany-Saratoga the team packed up their hauler and headed to Massachusetts and their former weekly home, the Whip City Speedway. Once there the night was Broderick's as he claimed his first win of the 2009 racing season and 32nd of his career. On Memorial Day Weekend the Broderick Racing Team will tow west to the Sharon Speedway in Ohio and the Eriez Speedway in Western Pennsylvania.

Saturday, May 16, 2009 - Whip City Speedway, Westfield, MA Bubba found his way to the winners circle for the first time in 2009 in the 1200cc Mini Sprint at his home track. Friday, May 15, 2009 - Black Rock Speedway, Dundee, NY Heat Race - 5th Place, Bubba broke a left rear shock and limped in with a 5th place finish. Four Laps of Fame Dash - 5th Place A Main - 10th Place, Again Bubba had shock problems and broke the right rear shock and limped in with a 10th place finish. Bubba is tied for 7th place in the point standings after the 2nd race.

May 11, 2009 - Broderick Impressive In ASCS Malta Debut

By Toby LaGrange Brookfield, CT - Defending Lucas Oil ASCS Patriot Region Rookie of the Year Bubba Broderick kicked off his 2009 360 Sprint Car season Friday night at the Albany-Saratoga Speedway. Broderick was joined by 27 other racers in making history as this was not only the first ever ASCS event at the Great Race Place but the farthest east the national organization has ever sanctioned a race. The night, which would eventually turn wet, started off with a solid qualifying run. He took the green flag in the eight lap heat race from a distant tenth place and ever so carefully maneuvered through traffic to finish in the third position. This charge from the back and subsequent finish earned the 19 year old sophomore sensation enough points to transfer into the 25 lap A-Main. The ASCS uses passing points to set the feature grid. Come feature time the Broderick Racing Team was ready and excited to showcase their talents in front of what could be considered a home crowd. Rolling off from the sixth position, Broderick quickly moved forward and by lap five was in second – chasing down race leader Jason Barney. On lap 14 the caution flag would wave when a fellow competitor lost a wheel on the backstretch. During this caution period Bubba noticed that his seat belt had come undone which forced him to come to a stop and fix the important safety issue. In doing so he had to give up the second position and restart at the tail end of the field. The crowd watched as Broderick put on a charge from the back, crossing the finish line in the 12th position. The positive run has brought the team even more excitement as they look forward to the Black Rock Speedway this coming weekend. One this is for sure, if Friday night was any indication Broderick just may capture his first career 360 Sprint Car win.

May 4, 2009 - Broderick Strong In Whip City Season Debut By Toby LaGrange

Brookfield, CT. - With their 2007 Maxim, 360 cubic inch powered Sprint Car all ready for the seasons first green flag – the Broderick Racing Team was forced to wait another week before starting their second season on the Lucas Oil ASCS Patriot Sprint Series. Mother Nature forced the cancellation of the season opening event at the Black Rock Speedway. The decision was made by track and series representatives on Thursday giving the team, with driver Jimmy "Bubba" Broderick time to make other plans. Those plans included putting the finishing touches on the 1200 cc Mini Sprint and heading over to the their old stomping grounds - the Whip City Speedway in Massachusetts. The Saturday night event was the tracks season opener. Broderick looked strong right out of the trailer, starting tenth in the heat race and when the checkers flew he was credited with a third place finish. The good heat race run put the many time Whip City feature winner in the third row for the feature event. In the feature Bubba ran a smooth race and came home with a second place finish. The Lucas Oil ASCS Sprint Car Series will open their season Friday night at the Albany-Saratoga Speedway, located on Rt. 9 in Malta, NY.

Broderick, 19 from Brookfield, CT. is entering his seventh year of racing. Following a successful stint in BMX bike racing, Broderick entered the world of local dirt track racing at the Whip City Speedway in Massachusetts. In 2003, at the age of 13 he was the youngest driver ever to win in the 270 cc division and did so in his fourth start. He ran a total of eight times before moving to the 750 cc division is 2004. Following a seventh place points finish he moved to the 1200 cc division where he finished third in points on the heels of three feature wins. In 2006 Boderick won eleven times and in his rookie season on the now defunct Central New York Mini Sprint (CNYMS) Tour he finished third despite visiting many tracks all over the northeast for the first time. The 2007 season was even more successful winning 13 times in the 1200 cc division and twice in the 750 cc division. He also finished second in the final CNYMS standings. Last season he won two 1200 cc main events – one at the Albany-Saratoga Speedway and the other at Mototown USA. In august he won a 750 cc event at Whip City. The 2008 season was also his rookie season behind the wheel of a 360 cubic inch powered sprint car. He finished in a tie for sixth in the final ASCS Patriot Sprints point standings, won the Insinger Race Fuels/Danny Willmes Rookie of the Year Award and the tours Best Appearing Car Award. "The 2008 season was a learning curve for both me as a driver and the team" Broderick said. This was my first time in a full size sprint and the first time we would be visiting most tracks. 77 Cars showed up for the Super Dirt Week event, It was a challenge just getting into the show.

HEAT: Bubba did not qualify in the heat race B-MAIN: Started: 5th out of 20 cars - they were taking 3 cars to the feature Finished: 3rd - way to go!! FEATURE: Finished: 14th - the track got very slick, so the setup they had in the car did not work well. Well, that's it for this season. September 6, 2008 - Lebanon Valley Speedway, West Lebanon, NY Not a great night for Team Broderick. On the last lap of warm-ups they broke a heim joint and crashed.

Bubba is fine, but the car needs a rear clip. They are heading to Syracuse to put their engine in another car, then head to Saturday's race at Fulton Speedway in Fulton, New York. Regular kicks up dirt to win at Whip City

The hired guns weren't quite as successful last weekend at Whip City Speedway as they were the previous week.

Jimmy "Bubba" Broderick defended the honor of the Westfield track's regulars, as he fended off NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour stars Ted Christopher and Woody Pitkat in the 750cc Mini Sprint "Duel in the Dirt" last Saturday. A week prior, sprint car legend Johnny Heydenreich prevailed in the Quad-4 Midget division.

Broderick didn't just keep the invaders at bay, he finished well ahead of them. Christopher and Pitkat, who normally race on pavement, placed 12th and 15th, respectively, in the dirt. There is plenty of Broderick family history with Christopher, as Bubba's father Jimmy III used to race against "T.C." in the SK Modified division at Stafford Motor Speedway. Lapping both Christopher and Pitkat meant a lot to Broderick. "This is my home track and it was great to come back home," said Broderick, of Brookfield, Conn. "It was fun to race with the guys I raced with so often, and it was great to have Ted Christopher and Woody Pitkat here."

Broderick doesn't get to race the Whip as often as he used to, as most of his weekends are spent on the American Sprint Car Series Patriot Region circuit. The ASCS was off last weekend, allowing the "Brookfield Bullet" to return to his old stomping grounds. Two days earlier, he finished second in an ASCS event at Stateline Speedway in Jamestown, N.Y. It's been quite the rise up the ladder for the 18-year-old electrical apprentice since becoming the youngest champion of Whip City's 270cc class at age 13 in 2003. By 2005,

Broderick was already in the Whip's 1200cc class, and in 2007 he won 13 features on the difficult Central New York Mini Sprint Tour.

Broderick aspires to drive on the prestigious World of Outlaws tour, and his current resume is already impressive enough to consider that a realistic goal.

September 3, 2008 - 'Bubba' Broderick Shines Bright in Mini Sprint Homecoming

BROOKFIELD, CONN. – Jimmy 'Bubba' Broderick cut his racing teeth at Whip City Speedway in Mini Sprints, so when he had a weekend off after a strong second-place finish in the American Sprint Car Series Patriots Division 360 monsters, he headed back for a homecoming at the track's 750cc Mini Sprint feature.In the heat race, it quickly became obvious that Broderick had lost none of his touch at Whip City, as he led his prelim from flag to flag, earning the pole for the feature race in the Alex Lopes-owned Fyne Line Construction No. 22 in the car's homecoming and first time out of the gate in a year. Lopes has been helping Broderick with the ASCS sprint car this year as well.

Starting on pole for the feature, Broderick showed that his practice in the bigger sprint cars had not gone to waste, as he headed the field for the entire race, even lapping NASCAR Whelen Modified stars Ted Christopher and Woody Pitkat as they enjoyed a day off, racing in a new [for them] car and track. "It was a great thing to have Ted Christopher and Woody Pitkat here," said Broderick. "My father used to race against them, so beating them really meant a lot."

August 30, 2008 - TRACK: Whip City Speedway in Westfield, MA CAR: 750 cc Mini Sprint HEAT: Finished: 1st FEATURE: Started: 1st Finished: 1st Team Broderick, with a weekend off from their ASCS Racing, headed to Whip City Speedway, a track that brought out the driver in Bubba, week in and week out. And this trip back to the track, in a 750 cc race car, saw Bubba take the checkered flag once again.

A special thanks to Alex Lopes owner of the Fyne Line Constuctions number 22. Alex and the crew prepared a flawless car for the event, It has been a year since the car has been on the track making a brilliant return. Alex has been helping Bubba on the ASCS 360 sprint this season.

Also in the feature were Whelen Modified Tour and Stafford SK regulars - Ted Christopher and Woody Pitkat. Bubba's dad Jimmy battled with Teddy in the SK's at Stafford for many years, so when Bubba lapped both cars it was an awesome moment for both Jimmy and Bubba. 'Bubba' Broderick Steps Up Pace With Second at Stateline Speedway

BROOKFIELD, CONN. – Jimmy 'Bubba' Broderick raised the ante in his pursuit of a top-five points finish and the Rookie of the Year in the American Sprint Car Series Patriot Region with strong second and tenth-place finishes at Stateline Speedway in Jamestown, N.Y.

With a pair of feature races on tap, including a makeup race from a rained-out date on June 21, the 1/3-mile dirt track saw some of the best ASCS racing of the season. Broderick started fifteenth in the makeup race, setting the stage for a day of 70 laps on the track, far more than usual for this sprint car series. "It was a lot of racing," he commented, adding that "I didn't get anywhere until about halfway through the race," after only four laps of practice for the makeup.

Overcoming a slightly loose-handling car, he ended the race moving steadily up to tenth, with lap times that were as fast as the top runners.

Taking the input from that first race, Broderick and his crew set about making adjustments to the car, trusting his crew to find a setup he could race with. "We've really been clicking," he said. The adjustments and time trials went his way and he started the heat on the outside pole, then moved into the lead on lap four, holding on for the heat win. "I was sticking to the top groove," he said.

The heat win and a lucky draw put him on the outside of the front row again, the best starting position yet in the season. At the green flag, he and pole-sitter Barger battled with Broderick taking the lead on the outside with "an inch on both sides," he laughed. On the next lap, Blake Breen moved low into the lead, holding that position until a caution bunched the field. At the restart, 'Bubba' went by on the restart, using the cushion built up over the course of the evening. "It was so comfortable," he described. "It felt so perfect. Everything was clicking just right."

Several laps of some of the closest racing ever seen at ASCS races had Broderick and Breen swapping the lead several times a lap, until his nemesis capitalized on "a little rookie mistake" and pulled away when Broderick jumped over the cushion. "I felt like we could have got it," he said. Broderick drove the rest of the race to a strong second-place finish, boosting his fourth-place standing and moving him farther into the lead for Rookie of the Year points.

Asked about his 'grade' for the evening, he admits that he'd give himself "about a B+. I don't think any driver would give themselves an A." His next race is Friday, August 29, at Lebanon Valley Speedway in an Empire State Sprint series event, followed by a double-feature race at Fulton Speedway the following Saturday.

The entire Team was definitely happy with the results of race #2 at Stateline Speedway. By luck of the draw, Bubba started on the outside pole, led 18 laps and finished a strong 2nd. While Jimmy was giving me the results on the phone, there were quite a few well wishers from other teams congratulating Bubba and Team Broderick on a great run. Everyone agreed that they thought this was going to be a win.

'Bubba' Broderick Mixes Driving and Spectating Races Sprint Car at Black Rock, Spectates Nationwide Race at 'The Glen'

BROOKFIELD, CONN. – Jimmy 'Bubba' Broderick, young second-generation sprint car driver, turned the clock back a bit over the weekend, taking his American Sprint Car Series Patriot Region sprinter to a track he raced in a Mini Sprint car earlier in his career. "I went out for practice and it was nothing like the Mini Sprints," laughed 'Bubba.' "With 200 hp vs. 700 hp, it doesn't drive the same and that's a lot to try to learn in three laps. I've got to learn how to be a really good qualifier in about three hot laps."

He finished seventh in the first heat with his No. 5 Brownie's Towing/Arbitell/Buzz Chew Automotive Maxim chassis and had to race into the feature through the B-Main. He started and finished third in the B, earning a starting spot in the feature. "On the last lap [of the B] I closed up to the bumper of the second place car – I started to get my rhythm," he added.

In the A-Main, he "just let it spread out" for the first few laps, watching the top five racers running around the top of the track and following their lead in the high line. By the end of the race, he was running virtually the same lap times as the top three cars, moving his way through traffic and earning the Hard Charger Award by moving from twentieth at the start to eleventh at the finish. "I believe that in two more laps, I could have passed for eighth or ninth," said Broderick. "Our results don't look as good as I wanted them to, but if you consider the progress we're making, it's pretty good."

After Friday night's ASCS race, he drove to Watkins Glen, where he joined friends in camping and watching the NASCAR Nationwide Series race on the historic Finger Lakes road course. Bubba admits that he prefers oval races to road races, but that there is a certain attraction to turning both ways. His next race on the calendar is slated for Humberstone Speedway, in Port Colborne, Ontario on August 24, making for an unusual hole in his schedule. "I won't know what to do with myself," he laughed. "I'm too used to going to a race track every weekend."

August 9, 2008 - Track: BlackRock Speedway & Schedule Update The boys are taking the night off tonight. They are currently at Watkins Glen in New York, where they stayed last night. Friends of Jimmy and Bubba had extra tickets and a spot saved for them in the infield. So they enjoyed a bit of down time. They'll head home early tomorrow to beat the Sprint Cup traffic. Last night I posted that at Black Rock Spedway, Bubba finished 11th. The winner of the race was protested and subsequently disqualified. So Bubba ended up finishing 10th. July 31, 2008 - Team Broderick Taking the Weekend Off Latest word from the elder Broderick! is that they are taking a weekend off from racing. The scheduled race was Sunday, August 3rd at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa - long way and lots of fuel to get there. This decision has been approved by Linda-gail Case (since the politicians are using this in their ads, I thought I'd use it in my reports!) Other choices were to do closer races to home, for some seat time, but, at this point, that idea has been put on the back burner. Should anything change, you'll hear it from me............ June, 27, 2008 - TRACK: Cayuga County Fair Speedway in Weedsport, New York Heat Race: Started: 5th, shortly into the heat race they broke a king pin. There were lots of others in the pit area who were

willing to lend a hand to get the car ready for the B-Main. B-Main: Started: 7th - they were taking the top three to move to the Feature Finished: 3rd - then it was on to the feature Feature: Started: 21st Finished: 13th Considering the start of the race, I'd have to say that finishing the race in 13th place was a huge bonus for the Team. And for those of us who have been active in racing, it's not always a given that other teams, etc. will jump in to help you put your car back together. There is more to racing than just finishing the race: it's how you got there and how you and your team handled yourselves. I'd have to say they did just fine.......... June 21, 2008 - TRACK: Lebanon Valley Speedway, West Lebanon, NY Team Broderick headed for Lebanon Valley to run with the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, and for a good part of the night, Bubba did not let anyone down. They timed in 22nd, not bad for being underpowered, as opposed to the World of Outlaws engines. Bubba went on to finish 5th in the heat race. And then mother nature decided to take part in the festivities by pouring on everyone's parade. The race has been rescheduled to Sunday, September 21st.......... July 14,2008 - Team Broderick to compete with The World of Outlaws Bubba and team will be putting the spare car together and set sites for Lebanon Valley Speedway in New York. Jimmy said that this will be good to shake down the car and get some more seat time for Bubba. The Team Broderick 360 sprint car will be down on horsepower from the WOO sprints that have a 410 motor. But you never know they might run with them if track conditions are favorable.

The phone connection was terrible, but I was able to determine that Bubba crashed pretty hard during the heat race. He's okay, will probably be a little sore tomorrow. 7/05/2008 - TRACK: Ohsweken Speedway in Ohsweken, Ontario Canada Heat Race: Started: 8th Finished: 1st!! Feature: Started 4th Finished: 15th On night #2 in Canada, Bubba brought the car home in 15th place. The team is trying to get the set-ups for tracks they've never run on before. Anyone who has been on a team knows that it takes time and patience. This is a learning curve for Team Broderick. My personal feelings are: once they get the car hooked up to the tracks they're running on.......that's when we'll see better finishes. This weekend had 48 cars attempting to make the A Main. Just getting into both features was a positive for everyone. Next up: July 11th at Brewerton Speedway in Brewerton, New York. No one asked for my advice, but I'll throw it out there!: each and every race you need to take something positive away and bring it to the next race. That's when you'll see the turn-around. 7/04/2008 - TRACK: Ohsweken Speedway on Ohsweken, Ontario, Canada The two night race card at Ohsweken Speedway gave Bubba plenty of seat time. Heat Race: Started: 8th Finished: 4th Dash for Cash: Started: 5th Finished: 4th Feature: Started: 15th Finished 16th Bubba collected the Pro-Syn Oil Technology/Mothers Car Wash Clean Race Award for the Feature. I usually don't look at the point standings, but Bubba is firmly in 5th place in ASCS Patriot Points. As of 4:15 a.m. - Saturday, July 5th, I did not hear from Jimmy, so I can't fill in any of the details of the race until later this morning when he calls. 6/27/2008 TRACK: Ransomville Speedway in Ransomville, New York Heat Race: Started: 8th Finished: 5th Feature: Started: 17th Finished: 14th It's not always easy to gauge how good the car was by the finish. During the feature Bubba had a right

front flat, which sent him to the rear of the field. He came from the back to finish 14th. Team Broderick was happy with their finish. They are learning a lot with the "big car", which is

6/22/2008 - TRACK: Eriez Speedway in Erie,Pennsylvania Not a good weekend for Team Broderick. Bubba made the feature at Eriez Speedway, starting 11th, only

to find himself in the middle of a wreck. The Team believes that they came away with a 27th place

finish. He walked away okay, but dejected, after a long weekend of travel, rain and bad luck. Adversity makes you stronger, so let's hope that next weekend is a turn-around for Team Broderick. 6/21/2008 - TRACK: Stateline Speedway in Jamestown, New York Bubba was up to 2nd place in his qualifying heat when the winds kicked up - and along with that -

ripped the wing off the car. They put Bubba to the rear of the field, threw the green flag and the rain

came along with the green flag. So the race was called, don't know if they will reschedule or not. Next up, Jimmy, as in the father of Bubba, is trying to get the truck and trailer out of the

mud.......and they are on their way to Eriez Speedway in Erie, Pennsylvania. About one hours

6/17/2008 - TRACK: Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio

Bubba attempted to qualify for a race that was to include Sprint Cup drivers: Dave Blaney, Kasey

Kahne and Tony Stewart, but missed the field by two spots. On a bright note, Tony Stewart didn't qualify either..........but as it goes in the racing world,

I'm sure they'll let Tony race in the feature event.

Team Broderick was still in high spirits, as they got to compete against some of the best in the

June 10, 2008 - Bubba Broderick Interview: Dale Wolbrink - Area Auto Racing News

Did you always want to follow in the footsteps of your father/grandfather? Yes, with my father I first wanted to race on asphalt, but then I started on dirt and I fell in love with dirt racing. I've tried it on both but over these past years I've decided that as much as I love asphalt racing like my dad, for myself now, I want to stick to dirt. I want to be successful like him but I want to also grow to be a name for myself. But yes, I've always want to follow in my dads foot steps of becoming a successful driver like him.

What made you ultimately decide to race? Watching my dad over the years when I was a kid and loving the sport, I decided that I wanted to try racing cars. I raced BMX for a while and got far with that, but I really wanted the thrill of trying to race cars. I saw how my father raced and it inspired me to do it too.

What made you choose dirt racing over asphalt racing like your Dad? I chose dirt over asphalt mainly because I like the racing better on dirt, I feel like on dirt there is a little more 2 or 3 wide racing instead of just all "fighting for the bottom" on most asphalt dirt tracks.

What was the biggest obstacle to overcome as a multi-generational driver? To make a name for mysellf instead of people comparing me to my dad or knowing me as his son, I want to have people know me as Bubba Broderick the dedicated, and passionate racecar driver.

Comparisons are inevitable. How do you feel being compared to your Dad? It's always nice to get compared to my dad, he was such a great driver, but I also want to have my own name for myself seperately than his.

What makes you different from your father as a racer? Not much, since we both race for simply the love of the sport and expept nothing less but our best.

What characteristic of your father's would you most like to have as a racer? I always went to the races as a child and I noticed how my dad had more patience that most drivers he raced with had. He held back for most of the race and then when it was most important he would come up for the win. He also was highly adaptable to the other tracks he traveled to and continued to be a top runner whereever he went.

What is the best advice your Dad ever gave you? Before every race he always told me to "think."

What is the worst advice he ever gave you? When I first started racing he told me how to drive in and out of the corners on the dirt tracks, when he never raced a car on dirt, he only raced on asphalt and thought it would have been the same.

Is your father you harshest critic, biggest fan, or both? He's definitely both. He has his moments of being both my harshest critic and my biggest fan, but in the end I know he's my father and he just wants to see me succeed and be happy.

What is your most memorable father/son racing moment? The day I won my first race ever at Whip City Speedway in Westfield,Mass., because I saw how proud he was of me. It was the first time that instead of me running into his Victory Lane, it was now him running into mine. Is there a story that your father told you about your grandfather that sticks out in your mind? He told me not too long ago that my grandfather broke the speed record in NHRA drag racing.

W hat one thing would you like for the racing community to know about your father? I want people to know that he's really one of the great drivers out there and should be an inspiration to anyone out there: to follow their dreams no matter what age, or who they are. Even though he started racing at an older age then some, he still had that dream of driving and went out there and followed his dreams, and look at where he got, it's awesome!

What is the one thing you would like to say to your Dad this Father's Day? Thank you for everything you've done for me with racing and outside of racing. You've been such a great supporter to me, allowing me to follow my dreams...I can't thank you enough. Happy Father's Day....I Love you Dad..........

June 7, 2008 - TRACK: Canandaigua Speedway in Canandaigua, New York In the "A" Main, Bubba was running well when he hit the burm, at which point the wheel filled with mud. Bubba thought he had a vibration, but was able to bring the car in at 10th place. In the "B" main he started 10th and finished 4th. This gave him an 18th place start in the Main Feature. It was an extremely late night, everyone thought that this feature would not go off, but it did and Bubba finished 14th, on the lead lap. He was the only rookie to make the race. June 6, 2008 - Bubba Scores a Win in the Friday Night CNMYS at Albany Saratoga Bubba got a call earlier today from someone asking if he'd like to drive his Mini Sprint at Albany-Saratoga Speedway tonight! So off they went.........and WON! From what dad had to pass on, with a bad phone connection, was that the car got wrecked in the heat. They fixed the damage and started 4th in the feature. On the last lap Bubba went by the leader to win.. What a great "last minute" race story.

I just got off the phone again with Bubba and here's an update that needed to be added to the recap of his win: He started 4th in the feature, fell back to 11th, and actually thought he was going to drop out of the race as the car wasn't handling quite right. On a restart he indicated to the guy who was on the inside to just go by him, so that left Bubba on the high side. Going into turns 1 and 2 on the restart, they were side by side, by the time they got to turns 3 and 4, Bubba blew right past him. Then he started passing cars and thought the could possibly get a top five finish out of the night! He got a Top five just fine - he said he could not believe how fast the upper groove was for that car. Let's hope tomorrow ends the same as tonight!

Saturday, June 7th, finds the team back in the big car at Canandaigua Speedway in Canandaigua, New York I'll be back Saturday with an update on that race.

Sat. May 31, 2008 - Track: Merrittville Speedway Race The ASCS Race at Merrittville Speedway in Thorold, Ontario, Canada has been canceled due to rain. No news as to whether or not the race has been rescheduled. "Bubba" Broderick Bounces Back to Top Four Finish BROOKFIELD, CONN. – Jimmy "Bubba" Broderick is rapidly becoming acclimated to his new 360 cubic inch sprint car, scoring a good top 15 in his first big car race, on Saturday night, then a strong fourth place Sunday at Eriez Speedway in Erie, Pa. On Saturday night, "Bubba" competed in the American Sprint Car Series Patriot Division sprint car race at Woodhull Raceway in Woodhull, N.Y. and had to race into the A-Feature from the B-Feature after finishing only sixth in his heat race. Rising to the challenge, he drove to fourth in the B-Feature and went on to score fourteenth in his first feature race. Along the way, he earned one of the ASCS special awards, recognizing his team's perseverance with the ISC Racer's Tape 'Keeping Things Rolling' award. The next day, the No. 5 Broderick Maxim chassis got towed to Eriez Speedway, where Bubba got right back in the groove, scoring a fourth-place in the first heat to move into the A-Feature. The first lap nearly ended his race, as a spin in front of the 18-year-old nearly took out his car but he recovered and drove around the top of the speedway for the next 25 laps, coming within a short stone's throw of the lead trio as they approached the checkered flag. Had the race gone one additional lap, 'Bubba' might well have won his first ASCS Sprint car race, as the leaders all started running short of fuel. "Wow" said Broderick. "We knew we had a good car and I really like running around the high side of a track, but this is awesome! Now we need to concentrate on getting ready for Merrittville next week and make sure we keep getting top five finishes." Broderick's next race as he pursues the Patriot Region's Rookie of the Year award is on the four-tenths mile D-shaped track at Merrittville Speedway in Thorold, Ontario. Located just west of Niagara Falls, N.Y., the track is hosting its sole ASCS event of 2008 Saturday evening, May 31.

Sun. May 26, 2008 - TRACK: Eriez Speedway; Erie, Pennsylvania An awesome outing for Team Broderick: Heat Race: Started: 5th Finished: 4th Feature: Started 8th Finished: 4th Considering Bubba's first race was a DNQ, Team Broderick was thrilled with their 4th place finish.

I've no doubt that once Bubba gets more seat time, you'll see finishes that are higher than 4th!

Sat. May 25th, 2008 - TRACK: Woodhull Speedway, Woodhull, New York Last night Bubba ran and completed his first race of the season in the "biiiiiiiiiiiig" car! Sat. May 17, 2008 - Track: Woodhull Speedway

The weather was the Winner again this week. The Broderick team made its way out to Woodhull Speedway only to unload the car and line up for practice before the sky opened and the rain came. Weather permitting Bubba and the gang will go out to the Orange County Speedway and try to qualify for the World of Outlaws show. Big Jim said "I want to get Bubba some more seat time" since they run a smaller motor than the WOO they will be at a disadvantage from the WOO regulars but some of the local sprint teams do try to qualify for the areas events. Sat, 2 May 2008 - TRACK: Fulton Speedway, Fulton, NY

In Bubba's first race of the points season, things didn't go according to plan.

While running in the heat (they were taking four cars), Bubba got up to 4th, then started leaking fluid onto the track. They pulled in to make repairs.

Next up was the "B" Main (they were taking four cars), Bubba missed by one spot. So he did not advance to the "A" main feature.

The rain came in pretty heavy after the "B" main, so they're calling it a night.

Jimmy "Bubba" Broderick Challenging for ASCS Patriot Division Rookie of the Year BROOKFIELD, CONN. – Jimmy "Bubba" Broderick, fresh off his second-place points season in the Central New York Mini Sprint season, is headed for the American Sprint Car Series (ASCS) Patriot Division 2008 season, aiming for Rookie of the Year honors. "I want the Rookie of the Year so bad," stated Broderick. "I'll do whatever it takes" to win the prize. Broderick will be racing in the No. 5 sprint car owned by his father with sponsorship from a variety of local businesses. While the full schedule has not been announced yet, there's still a busy year ahead for the second-generation racer, with Mini-Sprint races planned for every opportunity when he's not running the 360-cubic-inch ASCS sprint car. "I've been racing mini-sprints already," reports the young racer. "They built an indoor track about an hour from home at Motortown. I've been driving other people's cars when they would ask me to help them with setups. I think that's a real compliment for an 18-year-old driver." The move from mini-sprints into the iron block 360 cubic inch winged sprint cars is a big one but he's not "going out cold turkey. At least I got to race the big car at Rolling Wheels once last year," commented Broderick. In spite of the plans to focus on big car racing in 2008, he's still racing every chance he gets. "We had a good run last weekend," added his father. "We should have finished third but finished fourth" because it wasn't worth the risky move to make the pass. Jimmy Sr. is headed south next week to pick up the team's backup car in North Carolina but before that they plan to head to Motortown in Windsor, Conn. for "practice tomorrow [Wednesday] night if it'll stop snowing," said Bubba. Then they'll head back on Friday night for the feature races at Motortown.

December 31, 2007 – Jimmy "Bubba" Broderick took his Lou Cicconi-owned Midget to Fort Wayne, Indiana for the 2007 Rumble in Fort Wayne and came back with a pair of strong finishes.

With the intent simply of taking the Lou Cicconi-owned car to Fort Wayne in preparation for the Jan. 18-19 Atlantic City Indoor Race at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J. "That's the next race we go to," said Broderick. "We made the A-Main last year with a dirt car. The car we ran at Fort Wayne is the same car I'll drive in Atlantic City. This car is built specifically for this kind of track," he added.

Broderick's race weekend was better than they had hoped: "we time trialed twelfth and won the heat Friday," reported the teen driver on the Friday night Three-Quarter Midget program. "It was a very exciting night. We arrived there not knowing anything about the car or the track. I just wanted to run decent." And run decent he did, finishing a good third place in his first race at the track in that car.

Saturday's Midget show started just as well as Friday, with a third-place time trials result and a second-place finish in the heat race. Before the feature race, his team owner "blocked" the rear suspension, setting it up for the longer runs and moving the axle back slightly. "Nobody saw that the spring was hitting the birdcage so all the weight wanted to shift to the back," described Jimmy. The handling of the car was shifted far toward oversteer and he spent most of the night dirt-tracking the car on a paved track, spinning out once on his way to a ninth-place finish. "The car was nowhere near the right setup, but I'm happy. I'm that much better for the Gambler's Classic in Atlantic City," he concluded, noting that many observers had commented on his obvious talent in coping with the ill-handling car.

September 16, 2007 – As any driver will tell you, there are highs and lows to any racing season and Jimmy "Bubba" Broderick was able to overcome those lows to finish second in the points for the Central New York Mini Sprint series at just 17 years of age.

The last race of the season was held on Saturday night at Penn Can Speedway, where all the peaks and valleys of the season seemed to be rolled up in one big ball for the night. Jimmy started 8th in the feature, only 16 points behind the point leader of Don Harvey Jr. At the start of the race, Jimmy discovered they had made an adjustment that proved to be a disadvantage, losing several positions at the start.

"We just set the car up way too tight," Jimmy explained. "It just pushed like a truck, went straight into the wall and I had to turn the wheel all the way to the left. I think five cars got underneath me on the first lap."

Jimmy was able to hold onto his ill-handling No. 5 mini sprint and soon began picking off the cars one by one, finding himself in third, right behind the points leader. Time was running out and Jimmy knew he needed to make his move with only one lap to go, but fate had a different idea in mind.

"There were 19 laps on the board and I knew I was going to have to make something happen," explained the Connecticut teen. "I went into the turn and came up on a lapped car and overcorrected it and I went into the wall. I tried to get the wheel straight, but the whole front end was messed up. I slowed to a stop and this guy came by full throttle and smacked me from the side."

Jimmy had to settle for a disappointing 12th place finish when all was said and done, leaving him less than 20 points away from taking home the championship.

"It was pretty disappointing, going in only 16 points behind. Overall though, I didn't win the championship, but I sure learned a lot more than I thought I would," commented the optimistic teen. "I'd probably give myself an eight on the season. There were some highs and then there was just some bad luck, but I couldn't really do any thing about it. Just mechanical difficulties and things I couldn't control."

Although the touring season is over, Broderick will be busy running numerous races in several different cars throughout the remainder of the year, including a stock car.

"These are all for fun now. The touring series was fun, but it got a little serious at the end," commented Broderick. "These are all purely leisure and good times."

In fact, Jimmy ran a stock car on Friday night at Stafford Motor Speedway where he finished 16th.

"It was loads of fun. Just a whole different experience," Jimmy said. "I was banged around a little bit, but it was just so much fun."

Jimmy and his team are already thinking about next season, where they plan on running a 360 big sprint full time in the American Sprint Car Series Patriots.

"We wanted to choose a series that we feel had good competition. We'll probably run the American Sprint Car Series Patriots next year. I feel like it's better to pick one where I can learn, so I can drive against the best of the best."
